Based on the song: Fight for this love - Cheryl

~ ~ ~

Red sat in science class ignoring her lab partner as she explained their plan for the experiment. Instead she stared at Chloe on the table next to her as she laughed with a boy who clearly liked her, looking at her with the same glint in his eyes that Red looked at her with.

They had been dating for only 3 weeks now, Red knew that the possibility of Chloe having an interest in someone other than her this early in their relationship was high. Red had suggested they move slowly, currently only hand holding and cuddles being their form of love for each other. Red knew that too much of each other this early on could cause their relationship to become sickening, she knew exactly what she wanted from this relationship and the last thing she wanted was to crash and burn.

She was sure she had nothing to worry about when it came to Chloe's feelings for her but still something stirred in her that told her the opposite. A feeling that told her Chloe deserved better, that Chloe felt pressured to say yes, that Chloe never really felt the same way as she did. But that was absurd surely? However as she stared at the blue haired girl laughing and being touchy with someone else right before her eyes she couldn't help but think that this would end with heartbreak. Chloe breaking her heart. A curse worse than no other.

Suddenly she heard her name being shouted beside her, zoning back into reality looking away from her girl she blinked at the smiley pink girl.

"Sorry Bridget I zoned out for a moment.."

Bridget turned her smile into a concerned frown stepping ever so slightly closer to the red haired girl placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Everything okay Red?"

Red contemplated telling her about how she was feeling, after all Bridget was the most understanding person she had ever met but she decided against it just nodding sadly.

Unconvinced Bridget turned her gaze towards Chloe who was pouring some sort of liquid into a beaker then back to red who at this moment thought the floor was the most interesting thing in the world.

"You two are made for each other, Chloe adores you I wouldn't worry."

Red was surprised at how Bridget could see right through her, she must have let her walls come down a little too much recently. It was unsettling but hearing her words sound so convincing calmed her racing heart beat. Red smiled sweetly giving the pink girl a nod of appreciation before picking up a liquid and pouring it into the beaker.

"NO NO RED THAT'S-"

Before Bridget could finish her sentence the beaker blew into a million peices producing fire in the process. Everyone looked at her some laughing at her others simply looking horrified at the scene. She didn't realise that Bridget had protectively pulled her back, her arm wrapped around her waist with one hand shielding her face, the pink haired girl hiding her own face in the material of Red's T shirt. Red didn't notice it as she looked into Chloe's eyes her expression unreadable.

"Oh dear... Please remember students the liquid dragons fire goes in the beaker AFTER the safety oil."

Red lay in bed embarrassed after today's events. She did not want to face anyone for the rest of the day. Chloe hastily walked into the room immediately rushing to Red's side.

"Oh my gosh are you okay?! Did you get hurt? That looked scary!"

Chloe started fussing, Red didn't mind it if it meant Chloe's attention was on her for the first time all day.
The blue haired girl cupped Red's face scanning for any sign of physical harm, then she checked again but this time for signs of emotional harm that's when she saw the sad look in Red's eyes. Chloe could tell she was trying to hide it under layers of thick skin, so she leant in close sweeping a piece of loose hair behind Red's ear.

"What's wrong Rose?"

Rose. A name that only Chloe called her. She melted every time she heard it. Red wanted to spill out everything she had been thinking all day right here and now but it all felt really silly as she lay here cuddling into the girl she had doubted just half an hour before. She couldn't tell her everything that was on her mind whilst Chloe's actions contradicted every thought.

"Nothing I'm fine..."

Chloe pulled back to look into the girls eyes narrowing her own with concern.

"No no you're not. You can tell me anything Rose no matter how silly you think it is."

Red sighed. Chloe really did know her too well. She couldn't keep anything from her. That's why she loves her.
Red sat up crossing her legs and reaching a hand out to caress Chloe's cheek.

"I just want you to know that you're not in this thing alone..."

Chloe went to question her but Red continued.

"There's always a place in me that you can call home... whenever you feel like we're growing apart let's just go back to the start.."

Chloe listened intently. Putting the pieces together, thinking back to how clingy her girl was this morning, the staring Chloe felt a mile off when she was laughing and playing about with her lab partner in science class, the longing and almost panicked look Red had given her after the fire incident and the distant silence just now. Everything made perfect sense, Red was scared of losing her. Their relationship was new to them and though Chloe knew that she adored every part of her, that she would kill for her and cherished every moment with her she realised that Red may not know that herself.

Chloe took Red's hands in her own, locking eyes.

"Anything that's worth having is worth fighting for, quitting is out of the question, when it gets tough we gotta fight..."

The look in Red's eyes turned from scared to loving. Red understood that Chloe had felt the same way all along, that there was no reason for Red to worry all this time. Bridget was right, Chloe adored her and in just a few short sentences Red knew that now.

"We gotta fight for this love."

Though Red said it as a statement for herself it came out as more of a question.

"Fight for this love."

Chloe placed their hands on her heart letting Red know that she wasn't lying. That she was all in. That she loves Red just as much as Red loves her.

Red leant in placing a gentle, loving kiss on Chloe's lips, Chloe returned the gesture. Pulling away Chloe gently put their foreheads together, both their hands clasped together, looking down at each others lips both of which had a small smile placed upon them.

"I love you Rose, only you.."

"I love you my Princess."

I'm such a music nerd that most of the time I get my one shot ideas from songs I listen to. I'm a nerd I apologise.
