"Kevin, what made you fall in love with Natasha?"
Kevin turned his head towards Sally, who was driving the car. She diverts her attention to Kevin with an anxious look.
"Why did that question pop up suddenly?" Kevin chuckled.
"You are doing so much for Natasha. Is it worth it? Why can't you leave it?"
"This is not just for Natasha. This is for everyone alive right now. It's going to be an ultimate threat for all of them."
"But in the end, you will use that chain to get Natasha back since that's your only hope of finding her."
"Yeah," Kevin sighed. "that's because I love her."
Sally slows the car to the left side of the road and stops it.
"What happened?" Kevin asked.
"Kevin, if you are using that chain for Natasha, let me tell you it's unnecessary. The chain is almost broken. Looking at its condition, It can pull out only 1 soul at max from the Afterworld. So, I request you to think carefully. Do you want that one soul to be Natasha? Do you need Natasha?"
"Yes, I need her."
"But you broke the last chain saying you can live without her."
"I can live without her. I can keep thinking about her in my dreams. I will keep some space in my heart for her but I will never be able to fall in love completely with anybody else."
"Kevin, I have had a crush on different guys and been in many relationships. It doesn't work out every time, and we must move on. We must look for a new person in our life. What if she doesn't love you enough?"
"She does and I know it. Nobody till now has shown that they love me other than mom and she is gone now. She has lived her life completely. Let's let her rest. After Mom, if there was anyone who loved me, it was her. She trusted me. She spent time with me. She cared about me. I was going behind her like a stupid person before. Now, I am going back to her because I am confident enough that she loves me. This is not something to move on from. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for me to live with the person who loves me the most. I cannot let that go. Even if it means giving my life, I cannot let it go. I cannot."
Sally stares at him for a few seconds. Kevin lets out a breath after the long speech. Small droplets of tears fall from the sides of her eyes. She turns her head forward and starts the car.
"Fine. You better be right about her."
Kevin looks back at the window and smells the fresh air. He pushes the car seat backwards and falls asleep. He goes back into his dreams—the same beautiful island. The sun slowly rose from the ocean mixing its colours with the dark blue sky. He was walking along the island shore with Natasha. Both their hands dangling next to each other.
"Kevin, What do you like about me the most?"
"your eyes."
"Not like that," Natasha says, slapping his shoulder. "Like personality-wise?"
"I like the way you act shy sometimes. It looks cute."
"And?"
"The way you care about me."
"And?"
"That's it?"
"That's all that matters to me."
She places both her hands over Kevin's shoulders. She leans forward and kisses him lightly on her lips. Both their foreheads touching each other.
"Kevin, would you be able to recognise me if I didn't look like how I look right now?"
"I would."
"What if you can't find out if it's me?"
"If that happens, it's not me."
"You promise?"
"I promise." He smiled.
