Beautiful Nightmare

Finally, I am going to meet Kayla. Finally, I don't need to worry about anything anymore. I shall spend time in the afterlife with her.

The noise of birds chirping echoed through the island. Gurpreet was unconsciously lying down on the shore. A huge wave splashes on his face. He spits out the saline ocean water out of his mouth. He woke up and noticed the sun shining at its brightest. The same ocean. The same island.

"No. Why am I back on this island? What is happening?"

"You return to the world you created. Isn't this what you want?"

His heart lightened as he heard that voice. It was his very own Love. 

"After so many years..." He said.

When he got a glance at her, He stood still, amazed by her beauty. His love Kayla looked much more beautiful than ever. Her skin was fair and smooth. Her curly hair settled over her right shoulder. She was wearing a loose white shirt and a brown pant. Gurpreet's mind flashed back to the last time he met her.

"How?"

"How what?"

"How are you looking so young?"

"I am always beautiful. You are the only one spoiling yourself. I still don't understand how you manage to look this cute." She laughed pulling his cheeks.

Gurpreet's cheeks blushed red as she was playing with her. It had been a long time since he saw her. He went ahead and gave her a light kiss on the lips. He missed this feeling for ages. The fragrance of love was floating in the island's atmosphere. Then, Her smile vanished with a plain look at Gurpreet.

"I have to tell you something." She said politely.

"What??" He asked sensing the worry in Kayla's eyes. 

"This world you created with a chain is not this small island as you wanted it to be. It's a lot bigger. This world you created didn't perish with the chain. It exists on its own."

"There is No world, Kayla. What are you talking about?"

"Look, you used signals that could detect signals from a soul and get them to this island. Now, using the chain, you could connect the soul on Earth to the island. This way you are transported to the island. So, using those special signals, The souls from the afterlife can be sent to earth."

"That's not what this is all for. This is for us. For our purpose."

"Gurpreet, You don't understand. I met so many souls there. They deserve another chance, Gurpreet. Please! Just use the chain to get them to life. To bring me to life."

"THE CHAIN IS GONE. It's broken. It's gone, Kayla."

Kayla slowly stepped back in shock. Tears were dripping across her cheeks. Gurpreet went to hold her hand but she slapped it away.

"I was going to say this to you, Kayla. You just..."

"I had so many expectations from you, Gurpreet. How could you break it?" Kayla said with a frustrated face. "How are we living on this Island? Then?"

"I DON'T KNOW!!" Gurpreet shouted.

"He broke one pendant but he didn't completely damage the other one, Kayla. The one he used for trial. Now, only a signal can save us from your Husband's mistakes." A voice whispered from behind. 

"Who is that?"

"I am not alone, Gurpreet," Kayla replied to his question.

"NO WAY!!"

Gurpreet stepped back in horror. This was his most beautiful nightmare.
