"...Its too delicate to leave behind here...I'll take it somewhere with me so it can be safe"

By the time the Portman twins had left Emma, the cave and Miss Peregrines loop they had returned to their own time and were nearly back at the small village of Cairnholm. Soon enough the faint light of the moon rising peered over the gloomy dark clouds that lured over the horizon as the freezing costal fog danced around their feet.

"I can't believe that all really happened..." Jake rubbed his hands together to warm them. "Me too! I know you never truly stopped believing in Grandpas stories no matter how much you were trying to convince me. But...I'm glad you didn't doubt him deep down" (Y/n) admitted with a giggle before stuffing her hands into her coats pockets. "I wonder if Grandpa ever missed the children's home after he left..."

"I don't understand why would Grandpa ever want to leave a place like that, it's just so perfect and beautiful. Miss Peregrine, the house, the children...on the other hand I guess we finally have a few friends now, even if they are from another century. It's better than none at all, right?" (Y/n) asked as a small smile rolled onto her face.

"Yeah and you even managed to befriend Enoch, how did you do it? I barely uttered a word to him and all I got were daggers" Jake said, looking over at his sister. (Y/n) raised an eyebrow and slowly turned her head. "To be honest I've no idea...when I first met him before supper he made it crystal clear he wasn't fond of Grandpa and I mean, he wasn't exactly welcoming towards me either but after the evening unfolded I guess we kind of just got along...he's not as unfriendly as he seems though" shrugged the girl.

"Oh yeah I could tell after watching Horace's dream" Jake laughed aloud. (Y/n)'s eyes widened as her cheeks turned a rose tint, she nudged his arm harshly. "That was just Horace's dream Jake, I didn't mean anything and it never will!" she crossed her arms.

"Hey! Hey guys! Where the hell have you been? I've been all over this damn island and I couldn't find you" A familiar voice panted out of breath running up behind them. They turned their heads to see their father standing on the road with a tired yet irritated expression. "We were just on our way back. Sorry we lost track of time" Jake answered.

"Alright but where were you?" Their Dad raised an eyebrow. "We were hanging out with... Worm and uh, Dirty Dee" (Y/n) cringed at her own lie. Their Father narrowed his eyes for a moment. "...You know what? This is...this is good. This is healthy. You guys are making friends I'm proud of you" Franklin smiled, walking in between his children and leaning his arms to drape over their shoulders as they all continued to walk down the road.
"You guys are making weird friends and doing teenage stuff. I really think it's great. I'm sure it's normal. Doctor Golan would approve" he nodded to himself with a small chuckle.

"Hey you lot! Americans! Get over here" a man wearing a forest green jumper waved. He stood by a gate next to a large field full of dead sheep. Their cotton coats were torn around like confetti scattered around the grassy hillside and their blood seeped into their fragile limp bodies. It didn't take long to notice Worm and Dirty Dee standing near the gate with sulking looks smacked onto their faces.

(Y/n) and Jake glanced at each other with panicked expressions before following their Father closely towards the man. "Oh hey look there's Dee bag and uh...Worm man" Their Dad said, before walking over to the gate.

"What's your name?" the man scowled. "Franklin" he answered, looking around at all the dead sheep. "Did you do this?" The farmer pointed to his flock. "Woah, what?" His eyes widened. "No of course I didn't. Listen Sir, I was at the pub all day and my kids were hanging out with these two boys here. And trust me Jake and
(Y/n) would never do anything like this"
"Bollocks! We haven't seen them!" Worm hissed, staring at Franklin. "You payed us yesterday to hang out with them. Why would we do it today for free?"
