Cherry Holmes was what you would call a quiet observer with a big heart. Standing at 5' 1" with long brown hair that reached her mid back and dark brown eyes that reminded you of your favorite chocolate dessert. She made all of the boys want her with looks, and all of the girls want to be her due to the attention she got. Not that Cherry cared about any of that.
She was always too focused on her studies. She was very timid. Never talked until she was spoken to. She had a hard time making friends. It didn't help that she seemingly glared at anyone who tried to. That alone made her parents worried. I mean, what parents want their only kid to have trouble communicating with people. It also didn't help that Cherry didn't have a problem with any of this.
"I'll find a friend when I find someone I can tolerate for more than 5 seconds."
This lasted up until high school and even the start of college. While other teenagers were hanging out and partying, Cherry stayed home. She never had any interest in being a normal teenager. She would much rather stay home, nose deep in a book. This all changed when she met Javi Rivera.
It was just a normal day. Cherry was about a month into college when she was partnered up with Javi for a project in their biochemistry lab. At first, Cherry was very annoyed with the man because he never shut up. He was also loud. She often tuned him out until he asked her one question.
"What's your degree?"
"Earth Systems Science." She answered him with a soft southern accent.
"What the hell is that?"
Cherry rolled her eyes before looking at him. She would've thought the glare from her would make him back off as she was horrible at masking her facial expressions, but it did quiet the opposite which confused her. Javi smiled as he finally got her attention. He noticed that the brunette was very shy. He has never heard her speak during class. Even when she hit her knee on the table, she didn't make a sound. So Javi decided he was on a mission. A mission to bring Cherry out of her shell.
"It's the analysis of Earth as an integrated system. We study different aspects, like the environment and technology, that address the issues of global change."
"What do you think of tornadoes?"
"They're interesting, I guess." She answered. She was very familiar with tornadoes having grown up in Oklahoma. "They made us take a class on them in high school, so we could protect ourselves when one was near. The teacher was an idiot though in my opinion."
