Not again
"Cherry, what do you think of this one?"
"Automatic, no, if it's anything like the last one."
Cherry leaned back in her office chair as her coworker, Jane, handed her the phone. Jane had just been proposed to and was trying to pick out a wedding dress. The problem was that she kept asking Cherry for advice. It wasn't that Cherry had a problem with it. It was just that the two couldn't have more different styles. Jane was a gorgeous blonde with naturally tan skin. She loved everything, bright and fun. Complete opposite of Cherry. She preferred dark colors. That was why she typically wore dark clothes and makeup. Her dark, cherry stained lips wrap around her straw as she looks down at the photo.
"It's not that bad. I like the lace, but I'm not a fan of the shape."
"But they show the girls just right." Jane motioned to her chest. Cherry stared at them for a moment before nodding her head in agreement.
"You're right. They'd make your tits look great. Not that you need much to do that."
A blush fell over Jane's cheeks at the compliment. "This is why I always call you for a pick me up."
Cherry and Jane both worked as data entry clerks right in the middle of Chicago. Cherry found this job a little over 3 years ago. While it wasn't what she wanted to do with her life, she didn't mind the job. It was good hours and it was within walking distance from her apartment. She shares a cubicle with Jane, who started working a few weeks before she did. Jane immediately got attached to Cherry. Cherry didn't care too much for the blonde at first, but she grew to tolerate her. Jane was a good friend to her, often inviting her out with her other friends, but she couldn't help but think that she wasn't them.
It had been 5 years since that day that changed Cherry's life. Not a day when by that she didn't think of her friends. Her arm ran over the small tattoo that was on her forearm. It was an outline of the group as they posed for a photo that day. She still remembers the laugh that came from her when she was on Javi's back while Praveen and Addy argued about something. She felt tears prick her eyes at the memories.
"Cherry, you there?" She blinked her eyes as she looked up to Jane. She nodded her head as she ran her hands through her hair. "Aren't you having a lunch with Javi today?"
"It's Javi." Cherry corrected. "But yes, I am."
Javi and Cherry still stayed semi-close after the accident. Well, as close as they could get. They stilled talked to each other almost daily and FaceTime at least once a month. Javi went back to Florida and joined the Army after he dropped out of college. Cherry dropped out of college a few months after the accident as well before moving to Texas with her boyfriend James at the time. He had family there, and he thought the move would help her. It didn't, and neither did he. All he did was make it worse. She broke things off, which turned very messy for Cherry. She ended up running off to Chicago, which is where she was now.
