The day of the school excursion arrived, and excitement buzzed through the air as the whole class boarded the bus headed for the beach. Laughter filled the seats as friends chatted about the activities planned for the day. Yanna, feeling a mix of exhilaration and apprehension, caught Fox's eye as he settled beside her.
"I can't believe we're finally going! This is going to be so much fun!" Fox said, grinning.
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to it, especially the island hopping," Yanna replied, her smile brightening. "Just promise me we'll stick together."
"Always," Fox said, squeezing her hand reassuringly.
As they arrived at the beach, the sight of the sparkling ocean took Yanna's breath away. The sun cast a warm glow, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore filled her with joy. The class wasted no time in setting up their spot, laying out towels and gathering supplies for a day filled with adventure.
After some games and beach activities, their teacher announced the plan for island hopping. Excitement rippled through the group as they boarded the boats, Yanna and Fox taking a seat together. Rikka, who had been lurking nearby, saw her opportunity to create chaos. She hopped into the boat next to them, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
As the boats set off, the wind whipped through Yanna's hair, and laughter echoed around her. She felt liberated, the ocean's energy lifting her spirits. But Rikka was plotting her next move.
"Hey, Yanna! Watch out!" she shouted suddenly, feigning surprise as she leaned toward Yanna's boat, creating a distraction.
In the chaos, Rikka intentionally bumped into Yanna, causing her to lose her balance. With a splash, Yanna fell into the water, the cold shock hitting her immediately. The waves were stronger than she anticipated, pulling her down as panic set in.
"Yanna!" Fox shouted, his heart racing as he saw her struggle in the water. Without hesitation, he jumped off the boat, plunging into the waves, determined to save her.
The other students in the boat gasped, quickly trying to grab hold of ropes and alert the teacher. Rikka watched from her boat, a smirk creeping onto her face as she reveled in the chaos she had created.
Fox swam fiercely against the current, his focus solely on reaching Yanna. He spotted her flailing, struggling to keep her head above water as the waves crashed around her.
"Hold on, Yanna! I'm coming!" he shouted, adrenaline fueling his strokes.
As he reached her, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her toward him. "You're okay! Just hold on to me!"
Yanna's eyes were wide with fear, her breaths coming in gasps as she clung to him. "I can't... I can't breathe!"
"Just relax! I've got you!" Fox assured her, fighting against the waves as he began to swim back toward the boat.
But the waves continued to swell, making their progress slow. Other students had jumped in to help, but the strong current hampered their rescue efforts. Rikka, watching from the safety of her boat, feigned concern while secretly enjoying the scene.
After what felt like an eternity, Fox finally reached the edge of their boat. He held Yanna tightly, trying to lift her up. "Come on, Yanna! You can do it!" he encouraged, his voice steady despite the chaos.
With a final push, a few of their classmates helped pull Yanna and Fox back onto the boat. They collapsed onto the deck, Yanna coughing up water, panic still etched on her face.
