The late afternoon sun cast a warm glow over the campus as Fox, Yanna, and Rikka made their way to the dean's office. The air was thick with unease, and the usual chatter of students faded into a distant hum.
As they entered the dean's office, the atmosphere shifted. The dean sat behind a large oak desk, his expression serious. "Thank you for coming. Please, take a seat."
Yanna's heart raced as she sat down, casting a glance at Fox, who looked equally tense. Rikka, on the other hand, wore a mask of feigned innocence, but Yanna could see the flicker of anxiety in her eyes.
The dean cleared his throat, folding his hands on the desk. "I'm sure you're aware of the concerns surrounding the incident at the beach. We've had numerous witnesses come forward, and your parents have expressed their desire for justice regarding what happened to Yanna."
Yanna felt a lump in her throat. "What do you mean by justice?"
The dean continued, "They are considering filing criminal charges against Rikka for her actions, which they believe were reckless and intentional. However, before we escalate this matter further, we thought it best to speak with Rikka's parents first and attempt a dialogue."
Rikka's expression hardened, and she leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms defensively. "This is ridiculous! It was an accident, and you're making it sound like I pushed her in."
Fox's eyes narrowed as he shot Rikka a disapproving look. "You know it wasn't an accident, Rikka. You did that on purpose."
Yanna felt a mix of anger and sadness at the confrontation. "I just wanted to get past this and move on, but if my parents feel this strongly..."
The dean interjected, "Yanna, we understand your feelings, and we want to ensure that we handle this situation with care. A meeting will be set up with Rikka's parents to discuss what happened and find a way to resolve this without further escalation."
As they left the dean's office, a heavy silence settled over the three of them. Rikka walked slightly ahead, her demeanor shifting from defiance to frustration.
Yanna turned to Fox, who looked pensive. "Do you think this will help? Talking to Rikka's parents?"
Fox shrugged, his expression serious. "It might. But it's clear that Rikka isn't taking responsibility. She needs to understand the consequences of her actions."
Yanna nodded, her heart heavy. "I just want this to be over. I don't want my parents to get involved in something that could get out of hand."
Fox took her hand gently, squeezing it for reassurance. "Whatever happens, I'm here for you. You don't have to go through this alone."
As they walked down the hallway, Rikka lingered behind them, her mind racing with thoughts of how to manipulate the situation to her advantage. She couldn't afford to let her reputation take a hit, and she was determined to put on a show that would shift the blame away from her.
A few days later, the meeting was set up. Yanna's parents arrived at the school, their expressions serious as they sat down in the conference room with the dean, Rikka, and her parents.
The tension was palpable as the dean opened the meeting. "Thank you all for coming. We're here to discuss the incident that occurred at the beach and how we can move forward."
Yanna's mother spoke first, her voice firm but controlled. "We want to understand why this happened and what Rikka's intentions were. Our daughter was hurt, and we believe there should be consequences."
