~ "An adventure begins..." ~
After Gandalf's questioning decision, Irene wondered what adventure was in store for her and Bilbo. Her brother didn't really get the hint about Gandalf's decision.
Irene was getting ready for dinner. She changed into a bright blue dress. It was her favorite color. Irene could smell the food from the kitchen. Her brother was a very decent cook.
"Hello, dearest brother. What is on thy menu tonight?" Irene laughed. Bilbo shook his head with a smile. "When will you ever stop talking in that language, Irene?" He said.
"Isn't it romantic, brother? Wouldn't it be amazing if we could wander the land of goblins and dragons?" She said, dreamily. Bilbo disapproved of his sister's banter. "We have no need for such things, sister." He responded.
As they sat down for dinner, there was a sudden knock at the door. "Who could that be?" Bilbo questioned. Irene shrugged her shoulders.
Bilbo went to answer the door. Irene was left with her thoughts. 'It would be nice, if Gandalf could have stayed for dinner.' She wondered. Irene decided to check on her brother, until a mysterious figure walked past her straight to the kitchen.
"Excuse me? Bilbo?" Irene turned around. There was a young dwarf man. He had a bald head and a long beard. "No, Dwalin. At your service, m'lady." Dwalin bows his head.
Irene's eyes sparkled with fascination. She had barely seen other types of species before, well except from her books and hobbits. "You are fascinating, sir Dwalin." Irene said.
Dwalin blushed at the gesture of words. "What is your name, m'lady?" He said. Irene turned red from embarrassment. "Irene Baggins." She bowed her head.
"Now, where's supper?" Dwalin responded. Irene showed him where the food was held. "You must have traveled a long way, sir." Irene admired.
Bilbo sat in the corner, grumbling to himself. "Who sent you, sir dwarf?" He asked. Dwalin ignored him and Irene, only focusing on eating. "Bilbo! There is another stranger outside." Irene said, excitedly. She could see a figure from the window.
"What in the world?" He questioned. Then, the siblings heard another knock at the door. Irene decided to answer it this time.
It revealed a smaller and older dwarf. "Good evening, sir." She greeted. The dwarf nodded his head. "Yes, my dear. It is a very good evening. Balin, at your service." Balin introduced. He walked right past Irene into the kitchen.
"Ah, brother!" Balin said, happily. He walked over to hug Dwalin. Irene questioned how they were related. They didn't look alike. "Irene, something isn't right here?" Bilbo whispered.
"Hm, maybe Gandalf had something to do with it." She responded.
Irene gave her brother a reassuring smile. Until, their moment was interrupted by the door. "Ugh." Bilbo sighed. He went to answer the door, again.
Irene stayed to watch as the brother dwarves greeted and hugged each other. Suddenly, she was greeted by two more dwarves. These two looked related. "Hello." She mumbled.
"Fili and Kili, at your service!" The brothers said, excitedly. Irene blushed. They were very handsome dwarves. "Irene Baggins. Did Gandalf ask you to meet here?" She asked.
Dwalin and Balin were busy going through Bilbo's pantry. They both nodded at her question. "Okay, everything's canceled." Bilbo insisted.
"Wait, it's been canceled?" Fili questioned. Irene and Kili laughed. "You're a bit uptight aren't you, Mr. Boggins." Kili said.
"No. We just don't get many visitors." Irene commented. It was true. They haven't had company in quite sometime. Irene thought it was nice to have some noise in the house.
Suddenly, the door bell ring again. "There better not be anymore dwarves! I've had enough." Bilbo said, angrily. Irene was busy conversing with the brothers.
Bilbo answered the door. Then, a whole bunch of dwarves fell on top of him. Also, there stood Gandalf in the doorway.
