~ "Hello..." ~
The knock at the door put everyone into silence, even Gandalf. Irene was curious about who this stranger could be. It was the tookish side of her, that took over. "I will handle the door, Gandalf." Irene said. She walked towards the front door with graceful steps. "I believe, I should Irene." Gandalf persisted. The curious hobbit ignored his suggestion.
Irene placed her hand the doorknob, her heart was beating faster and faster. "Hello..." She muttered, quietly. There stood another dwarf. He held his head high with pride. "Ah, Ganda-" The man stopped. Thorin wasn't expecting a hobbit woman at the door. "Am I at the right place?" Thorin asked. Irene could only admire the beauty of this man. "Oh, yes. Mr.Gandalf is inside." She said. The woman opened the door wider for the dwarf.
"I thought, you said this place would be easy to find." Thorin muttered. Gandalf stood behind Irene, while greeting the dwarf. "Ah, you've made it Thorin." Gandalf said. Thorin sighed. "I lost my way. Twice." He replied. Irene couldn't stop staring at the man with curiosity. Thorin seemed to take notice of the woman's stare. "I'm guessing, you must be the lady of the house." Thorin acquired. Gandalf noticed Irene's silence, he nudged her shoulder a bit.
"Hm. Gandalf, is he the leader of our company?" She asked. Gandalf quart a brow at the woman. "Irene, meet Thorin Oakenshield. The leader of our company." He introduced. She has heard that last name, before. "I apologize, I'm just filled with so much curiosity. You seem so fascinating." Irene responded. Her eyes were sparkling. She hasn't felt like this in many years. It was the feeling of adventure, her freedom.
Thorin was shocked at the woman's outrageous outburst. "Uh, yes. Well, thank you." He muttered. 'What a peculiar woman...' He thought. Thorin continue his walk through the door. Everyone welcomed their friend inside.
Bilbo, however, scowled at the idea of another dwarf in his home. "Bilbo Baggins, meet Thorin Oakenshield. The leader of our company." Gandalf announced. Thorin scowled a bit at the hobbit.
"So, this is the hobbit. Tell me, Mr.Baggins, have you done much fighting?" Thorin said, while circling Bilbo like a wild wolf. "Pardon me." Bilbo replied. He hadn't even introduced himself to the hobbit on his own accord, and now Thorin is treating him like a weakling. Irene scowled a bit. This man was very arrogant, especially as he strides around Bilbo. Her brother maybe uptight, but he is not weak.
Hobbits are known for their brilliant minds and stealth. Bilbo and Irene were descendants of warriors on their mother's side. They were Tooks after all, starving for adventure. "Now, Mr.Oakenshield. I will not have you treating my brother in such a way. Hobbits are just as strong as a dwarf." Irene spat at the dwarf. Thorin was shocked at the woman's retaliation, especially after her extremely enthusiastic introduction. Though, Thorin responded with rolling his eyes. "How cute. Then, What is your weapon Irene?" He sneered.
"Now, now. No need to fight. Hobbits are actually known for their stealthy abilities. Smaug would never guess the smell of a hobbit." Gandalf interrupted. 'Who is Smaug?' Irene thought. Thorin ignored Gandalf and Irene. He walked towards the kitchen where all the dwarves were settled in. They were sharing a few good laughs and greetings. Irene was curious about the new character mentioned.
