Chapter 1, Part 1: Prologue

The alarm rang through the entire room. Groaning, Y/N aggressively punched the button to turn it off. It took a moment for him to wake up. He slowly sat up on the bed, his tired gaze looking around his small quarter. It wasn't much, but enough for him to feel at least a bit of comfort.

Y/N stood up and walked over to his gear stand, beginning to put on his pilot suit. A few seconds later, a mechanical bell ring was heard from the comms system.

"Enter..." Y/N said uninterested.

The door opened, revealing Commander Nadine Branagen. She was the commanding officer of the 6th militia's expeditionary fleet.

"Good morning Y/N. Just woken up?" Nadine asked sarcastically. She knew how much Y/N hated to wake up early.

"Commander, may I speak freely?"

"You may."

"It's too early for your sarcasm bullshit, commander." Y/N said, sounding tired and pissed.

Commander Branagen smirked. She was used to Y/N's morning mood, and knew that her sarcasm was only riling him up even more. She leaned against the doorway, waiting for Y/N to finish putting on his pilot suit. After he was fully dressed and a bit more awake, Nadine cleared her throat, before speaking again.

"We've arrive at Genamis."

"Okay...so?"

"So you and Athena are going down there as our scouting party. There are suspected IMC forces, but we're not sure. We'll drop you via. titanfall, but you have to be careful. The weather is pretty bad down there."

"Ah yes. Send down the the mercenary pilot that is working for us, he's expendable." Y/N said sarcastically.

"Oh come on Y/N, you know it's not like that. Mercenary or not, you're still one of us. And also you're the most capable for this. I'd send Harper down with you, but you know he's still on the med-bay, getting his injuries treated." Nadine said with an apologetic smile.

"Yeah...I know..." Y/N says, nodding slowly

"Good. Take what you need from the armory and then head to Athena. We've readied her up for titanfall. You got this Y/N." She says, giving him a reassuring nod.

With that, she turned around and headed back to the bridge. Y/N made his way to the armory. Once there, he grabbed a G2A5, his Wingman Elite, three pulse blades, one stim, his personal data knife, and a karber. With that, he walked to the Titan bays. As he entered the big hall, he saw his titan AT-1612: Athena. Her dark blue-cream white chassis was shining under the dim light of the Titan bay. As Y/N walks, the singular blue glowing eye sets on him.

"//PILOT, GOOD TO SEE YOU.\\" Athena says in her standard female robotic voice. She leans down and opens her chassis for Y/N to enter.

"You too, girl." Y/N hums as he jumps into the cockpit, stowing the Karber and the G2 in the weapons rack.

"What's the status of the SERE kit?"

"//SERE KIT IS READY AND AVAILABLE FOR DEPLOYMENT IF NEEDED\\"

"Sounds good. Let's just hope we don't have to use it."

Y/N put on his helmet and began to run system checks on Athena. After all systems were online, the cockpit closed, securely sealing Athena's pilot in her 40 ton chassis. The big titan walked over to the drop doors, walking past the much smaller M.R.V.N.s and Militia personnel.

"Commander, it's Y/N. Ready for titanfall. Standing by for further orders."

"*Copy that, lieutenant. Proceed with titanfall. You will receive further mission orders once you're on the surface.
Commander Branagen out *".

With that said, Athena walked over to the drop doors, getting picked up by the mechanical arm as the doors below the titan open, revealing the planet's surface bellow. The only thing that was really visible was a gigantic eye of storm.

"I don't like this..." Y/N muttered to himself.

"//PILOT, INITIATING TITANFALL\\"

"//3\\"

"//2\\"

"//1/\\"

With that, the mechanical arm released the titan and its pilot towards the planets surface. It took a good amount of time before Y/N felt the familiar sensation of his titan entering the atmosphere. Athena shot through the clouds, towards the surface below. But something felt...wrong. Suddenly, Athena's chassis began to shake. It changed the course, not voluntarily, but was getting sucked towards some.

"Athena, what's happening?!"

"//PILOT, I HAVE LOST CONTROL, I CANNOT CORRECT OUR COURSE\\"

"Wha-"

Athena's chassis was beginning to shake, and getting hit by lightning.

"//PILOT...Y/N...WE ARE GETTING SUCKED INTO-...\\"

Suddenly, the whole cockpit became black, Athena's voice got cut off. Y/N felt the shaking stop. It was like they were just falling.
