Part 5: A Deal

Athena's heavy chassis carefully on the gigantic tendrils. Y/N trusted his titan's ability, but not the integrity of the tendrils.

"//Y/N, I AM DETECTING MANY NON-ANIMALISTIC LIFEFORMS, AND ALSO MULTIPLE HUMAN LIFEFORMS 3 KLICKS OF OUR POSITION. WE ARE NOT FAR AWAY."

"Good...let's get this shit over. I want some answers."

After a bit more climbing, the pilot and his titan climbed up the approximate rock where the base was located inside of the big floating rock. During the climb upwards, many Na'vi looked down at the tall mech making its way towards them. They all looked confused and nervous. When Athena finally reached the top and stood at her full height, she looked down at many Na'vi and also some humans, and murmuring was heard through the crowd.

After a few moments, Jake Sully and his wife exited the big tent in the middle, walking towards the 40 ton death machine. At the sight of them, Y/N exited the chassis and jumped on solid floating-rock-in-the-sky ground. At than the murmuring became louder. Multiple humans also stepped forward. Y/N turned towards Jake.

"I came, just like you offered."

"Yes. And we welcome you." Jake said, and did the "I see you" gesture.

It took a moment for Y/N to realize, before he returned the gesture, though less elegant, and more forced. Behind him, Athena also did the gesture, leading to silent chuckles under the humans.

"Lieutenant Y/N, please let me introduce you to Norm Spellman. He will show you around and after that, we will talk."

Y/N sighted. If it was his decision, we would talk right now, but apparently, he had no choice. Then, a middle-aged man stepped forward. He had a brown beard under his mask, a Hawaiian shirt, and a necklace around his neck. He walked up to Y/N, offering him his hand.

"Hey. I'm Norm. Norm Spellman. And you are?"

"Lieutenant Y/N Colser. And the vanguard class Pepsi-can behind me is Athena." Y/N and shakes Norm's hand.

"Jake told me that would probably come. Let me show you around." Norm said and walked towards the Lab. Y/N followed behind him.

They entered the Lab building through the glass door, and Norm took off his mask. After a moment, he gestured Y/N that he could take his helmet off. Y/N hesitated. He was never a fan of showing people his face, especially strangers. After a moment, he reluctantly reached up to his helmet. He pressed a button on the back of his helmet, and a "tsish" was heard. Then he slowly took off his helmet. Norm had to suppress a gasp, but his surprise was evident on his face.

"What?" Y/N asked.

"Nothing...just not what I expected. Didn't expect you to be so young, and that burn-scar looks..."

"Nasty, I know." Y/N finished Norm's sentence for him. By now, he was used to that reaction, but that didn't make it any better.

"So? You gonna show me around or what?" Y/N asked, a little impatient.

"Yes, yes...of course. Follow me please." Norm said and began to walk through the lab.

Y/N looked around, intrigued. He had seen many labs in his service time. IMC labs,Hammond robotics labs, and even the ARES labs on typhoon, even if it was just for a short while, before the planet made "boom". But this one was different. Norm walked up to a holographic computer screen. He opened something and a star system was shown.

"So let's start with the basics. He are here on pandora. It's one the fifth moon of the gas giant Polyphemus."

"The big thing that causes the eclipse?" Y/N asks, connecting the two dots.

"Correct. Pandora has a diameter of 11.447 Kilometers. It was first sighted by humans about 120 years ago. About 70 years after first sighting, the humans departed from earth to colonize it. Pandora has a consciousness called "Eywa", but the Na'vi call her "great mother".
It connects all life on pandora."

"Yeah, that's cool and all, but how about you tell me a bit about this RDA who tried to kill me." Y/N asks, to which Norm nods.

"The resource development administration, yes...they are is the largest NGO on earth. RDA first came to pandora, mainly because of the resource-rich environment. They quickly became enemies with the Na'vi. All of us humans were also brought here to pandora, but we basically defected." Norm said with a chuckle.

"So the RDA basically comes to planets and just takes their natural resources?" Y/N asks, to which Norm nods.

"Ain't that sounding familiar." Y/N thought to himself, but didn't say it out loud.

"The Na'vi and us scientist were able to make the RDA leave pandora in one final battle, known as the battle of Aryam Alusìng, led by Jake sully. He became Toruk Makto and united the clans. The battle was won, and the RDA retreated off world. Us scientists were allowed to stay. We thought it was all over..." Norm said, taking a deep breath in before continuing to speak.

"...but last year, the RDA returned with a much larger force and has started it's operations here again...to the suffering of flora and fauna..."

Y/N nodded. The RDA sounded kind of like the IMC's not-so-dangerous child, but was still doing similar acts. The pilot didn't know how he got on pandora, because he knew that until he found out, and maybe found a way to go back, he should continue the fight. Even if it's against a different Cooperation, it basically did the same. After a while, Y/N nodded.

"Thank you, Norm, I'll go see Jake Sully now."

With that, Y/N turned around and walked towards the exit. A lot of eyes in the lab landed on him, both from humans and Na'vi. He put on his helmet and exited the Lab, walking towards the tent where Toruk Makto was. Just before he could step into the tent, the female Na'vi, Neytiri, stepped out, towering over the pilot. She tried to hide it, but the disgust was visible on her face. She also looked...sad. Y/N did the "I see you" greeting, which was not returned.

"I come to speak with Toruk Makto."

"You are not welcome here." Neytiri said in broken English.

"If it was my choice, I wouldn't be here in the first place, but it's NOT my choice." Y/N snapped back.

Neytiri showed her canines at that, and the pilot grinned under his helmet. Just before the situation escalated further, Jake stepped out of the tent. He said something in Na'vi to Neytiri, who stepped back into the tent, but not before giving Y/N one last glare.

"So? Norm has explained the situation to you?"

Y/N gave one simple nod.

"So what's it gonna be, Lieutenant?"

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend...I will join you..."

(Author's note: hello hello again. When I'm writing this, I am currently on vacation, so I wound be able to update the story every day. despite that, I will continue to write as fast as I can and keep the story going. I have a plan for the story which I cannot tell you about (because I won't spoiler my own story, that would be beyond stupid), but the action will come soon. Next chapter will be a filler (more to fillers in the next chapter) but the action will pick up soon, I promise. I'm happy with the story telling in this chapter, but it's more talk and less pew pew, but that will change soon enough. I hope you have a nice one folks, and see you in the next chapter.)
