Things had gotten back to normal in Mystic Falls. Hazel had been happy that Stefan went on a trip, she hoped he got over himself before returning. Damon had sat Hazel down for a talk, just the two of them. She had been worried until he asked what she thought of him and Rose getting married. Hazel couldn't believe he wanted to finally settle down but was ecstatic for him. When Damon popped the question, Rose had been shocked but agreed. She had asked Hazel if she was okay with it and Hazel made sure she knew how she felt, wishing her and Day all the happiness.
Kol had picked up his magic like a pro, he was a very proficient caster now. His siblings were his usual victims, but Hazel and Luna had kept them all from killing him. Kol had been helping Davina learn her magic, Elijah even enlisted the help of the Martins. They moved to Mystic Falls and added Davina to their little coven.
Elijah had been wrapped around Lunas finger since they had arrived home. Hazel and Nik had been right about them, Elijah kept Luna in the present while Luna made Elijah loosen up. It came as no surprise when she let him turn her. She only waited until she was twenty-one, that way they looked closer in age. When they had gone on their trips across America, they always came home with stories that helped the others while they were away.
Fred and George let Care and Bekah turn them. They knew the two were it for them and didn't want to grow older while the girls didn't. The four spent their time between New York and Mystic Falls. The twin's shop was an obvious success and both Care and Bekah attended college in New York. None wanted to be separated from the family, so they had permanent portkeys between the two locations.
Finn spent most of his time seeing the world with Sage. He had spent nine hundred years in a box so no one begrudged him for it. They always made sure to come home and visit though, even Finn missed his siblings and the others. Sage had become good friends with Hazel and Rose, so even she liked to come back.
When Stefan arrived back, he apologized to both Damon and Hazel. He had spent his time away thinking over everything. When he realized how awful he had been to them both, he made sure to give them a heartfelt apology. He had met a vampire while he had been away, she seemed to be the reason he realized he had been an ass. Damon and Hazel were happy to meet her and welcome her into their patched together family.

Today was Hazel's twenty second birthday, technically she had stopped aging last year, but Day was determined to throw her a party. It was one of the rare times everyone was home, so she wouldn't complain about seeing them all at once. Nik was taking her out for dinner before, so she was currently getting ready. She had something to tell him and wasn't sure how he would take it.
A knock on her bedroom door pulled her from her thoughts. Even though she stayed at Niks almost every night, she still had her room at the boarding house. Waving her hand, the door opened, and she looked back to her mirror to put her earrings in. "I'll be finished in just a moment."
Nik smiled as he walked over, kissing her neck since her hair was pulled up. "It's fine luv, we've got time."
Hazel smiled at him in the mirror. He was so handsome and so good to her. Hopefully, he took the news well. Finishing, she stood and took his arm so he could lead her out.

Arriving at her favorite restaurant, Nik led her in and gave his name to the host. They were sat at their usual table, Nik must have requested it. When it came time to order drinks, she had to decline her usual. Hopefully he wouldn't ask questions.
They had made it through the meal and waiting for dessert. Nik took her hand as it was sat before them. Hazel was about to eat when Nik stood. She watched, wide eyed as he went down on one knee before her.
