Raised By A Vampire

Chapter 3

Hazel had gotten a text from Caroline, she wanted to meet for lunch and then show her around. Damon drove her to the Grill and dropped her off. He was still itching but kept his mouth shut. He knew she would make it worse if he complained. 

Entering the Grill, Hazel spotted the bubbly blond and walked over. "Hey, Caroline." 

Caroline smiled, "Hazel! I'm glad you could make it. I know you said that you traveled growin up but have you ever had an American cheeseburger and fries?"

Hazel shook her head, "No, at least not from America. We always stayed away from the states. Meeting Stefan, I'm glad we did. He's stuffy."

Caroline laughed, "I crushed on him when he first arrived. Thank god I got over that!" 

Hazel smiled at her. They chatted all through lunch. When they were finished, Caroline lead them outside and starts the tour of Mystic Falls.

They had walked around the town for about an hour when Hazel quietly said, "Damon told me." Carolines head whipped to her, Hazel grinned, "He has an itch that won't go away for a bit longer."

Caroline couldn't help but laugh, "He said you would hex him. He also said your mom would have done the same." 

"He deserved it." Hazel sobered, "I'm sorry he did that. That wasn't the man who raised me and he knows he messed up royally."

"Thank you. I haven't forgiven him yet but I may eventually." Caroline told her. Changing the subject, she asked, "Are you going to join school?"

"I've already graduated. Damon made sure I went to the best schools. I was able to finish by thirteen. It really helped because my other school didn't offer any subjects for this world."

"Are you going to go back?" Caroline was curious. 

Hazel shook her head, "No. I won their war for them, other than a few people, I don't care to go back there. I want to be near Damon now. I missed out on seven years and obviously, he needs me." They both laughed at that. Caroline was about to say something, but two boys came walking up. 

"Hey Care, you coming to the masquerade?" Tyler asked. 

"Tyler, Matt, this is Hazel. And yes, I'll be there." She replies. Both boys greet Hazel and the girls continued the tour.

Hazel hadn't wanted to go to the cookout with Damon. She didn't want to be around Elena, the other girl annoyed her. Instead, she was spending her afternoon trying to finish something she had been working on since the hunt. This was the last step, unfortunately, someone knocked on the door.

She had just opened the door when Stefan appeared behind her. "Don't" he started to say but it was too late, Hazel had opened the door and now she was being glared at. It didn't take long for it to click, the person standing before her wasn't Elena but the vampire doppelganger. Smirking, she said, "So, I finally get to meet Kitty Kat."

Stefan gaped at her, but Katherine gave a smirk in return, "And just who are you? Hopefully not Stefan's spare girlfriend."

Hazel gagged, "That was mean and very disgusting." She looked between the two vampires, "Welp, I'm headed back to my room. You two be sure to keep it down." She winked at Katherine before heading upstairs. Hazel made sure to warn Damon of their company before going back to her task.

Getting hungry, Hazel headed downstairs to find substance. She wasn't sure if they still had company, but Stefan would just have to get over it. Not finding anyone, she headed to the kitchen. Damon said he would be home late, so she made herself some mac n cheese. She had just finished cooking when screaming came from the basement.
