Chapter 36: Unseen Miracle

The days in Russia passed slowly in Taehyung's absence. Jennie tried her best to keep herself together, but it wasn’t easy. Every moment without him felt like a thousand years. She worked tirelessly, throwing herself into her responsibilities, but her body and mind were exhausted. The coldness of the Moscow winter only seemed to match the emptiness inside her heart.

Jennie had been feeling off for weeks, and as much as she tried to push through, something deep inside her told her that it wasn’t just stress. With Taehyung back in Korea, the void in her life had grown wider, and her energy levels had plummeted. No matter how hard she tried to distract herself with work and keep her emotions in check, her body wasn’t cooperating. She had ignored the signs at first—the constant nausea, the dizziness, the fatigue. But now, as she stared at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t ignore it any longer. Her clothes had started to feel tighter, and her belly, once flat, now had a noticeable curve.

Jimin had been there every step of the way, caring for her with a gentle persistence. He noticed how pale she had become, how she was struggling to keep food down, and how her energy seemed to be fading. At first, she had brushed it off as stress and overwork, but deep down, she knew something wasn’t right.

Jennie’s mind raced as she tried to make sense of it. She hadn’t had her period in months, but she had been so consumed with everything going on—Taehyung, Jisoo, the move to Russia—that she hadn’t paid much attention to her own health. She had simply chalked it up to stress. But now, standing in front of the mirror, she couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of dread. she stood in front of the mirror, staring at the slight curve of her belly, that the realization struck her.

“What’s happening to me?” she whispered to herself, her hands trembling as she touched her stomach. The realization hit her like a tidal wave, and she staggered back, clutching the sink for support. Could it be…? No, it couldn’t be. She couldn’t be pregnant… could she?
“No… it can’t be,” she whispered, her hand trembling as it hovered over her abdomen. “It’s just stress… it has to be.”

But a gnawing fear gripped her heart, a fear she couldn’t shake.
She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t hear Jimin knocking on her door until he called out her name. Startled, Jennie quickly composed herself and opened the door to find Jimin standing there with a worried expression.

That day, Jimin came over to check on her like he always did. He noticed her pale complexion, the way she seemed to move slower than usual, and he felt a surge of worry.

Jennie,” he said gently, his voice laced with concern, “you’ve been looking really unwell lately. I think you should see a doctor.”

“I’m fine, Jimin,” she replied, trying to sound convincing. “Just a little tired.”

But Jimin wasn’t buying it. “Please, Jennie… let me take you to the hospital. You need to be sure it’s nothing serious.”

She hesitated, her mind racing with conflicting thoughts. She didn’t want to admit that something might be wrong, but deep down, she knew Jimin was right. She had been ignoring the signs for too long, and it was time to face the truth.

Finally, she nodded, her voice barely a whisper. “Okay, Jimin… let’s go.”

Jimin helped her into his car, and they made their way to the hospital in silence. Jennie’s mind was racing, her heart pounding with fear and uncertainty. She couldn’t shake the possibility that she might be pregnant, but she also couldn’t allow herself to believe it. Not yet. When they arrived at the hospital, Jimin stayed by her side as they waited for the doctor. Jennie felt a knot of anxiety forming in her stomach as they led her into an exam room. The doctor, a kind-looking woman in her forties, asked Jennie a series of questions about her symptoms and medical history before performing a routine examination.
