Chapter 17: The First Meeting

As Taehyung sat on the edge of the bed, struggling to find the right words, Jisoo took a deep breath and reached out to hold his hand. Her grip was firm, almost desperate, and Taehyung looked up at her, startled by the intensity in her eyes.

" tae," she began softly, "before you say anything, can we... can we remember how this all started? our first meeting... the beginning of everything. maybe it'll help us find our way back."

Taehyung hesitated, then nodded. He owed her that much, at least. He leaned back, closing his eyes, as the memories began to flood in.

It was a chilly autumn morning when they first met, several years ago. Taehyung was fresh out of college, eager and full of ideas, ready to take on the world. He had just joined a startup called Kim Creations, a small but ambitious company specializing in digital marketing and creative design. The company was a passion project of his older brother, and Taehyung was excited to contribute.

The first day, he walked into the bustling office, a mix of nerves and excitement bubbling in his chest. As he looked around, his eyes fell on a young woman standing by the coffee machine, her hair tied up in a messy bun, glasses perched on her nose. She was engrossed in a conversation with another colleague, her hands gesturing animatedly.

"Hey, new guy," a voice called from behind him. Taehyung turned to see his brother, Minho, grinning at him. "Ready to change the world?"

Taehyung laughed. "Ready as I'll ever be."

Minho clapped him on the back and led him over to the woman by the coffee machine. "Tae, meet Jisoo. She's our lead graphic designer and the heart of this place."

Jisoo looked up, her eyes meeting Taehyung's. There was a moment of silence as they sized each other up, then she smiled, extending her hand. "Welcome to the team, Taehyung."

He shook her hand, feeling a strange sense of calm wash over him. "Thanks. I'm excited to be here."

From that day on, Taehyung and Jisoo became inseparable. They spent long hours working together, brainstorming ideas, and pushing each other to be better. Jisoo's creativity and attention to detail complemented Taehyung's innovative thinking and boundless energy. Together, they breathed life into Kim Creations, helping it grow from a small startup to a well-known name in the industry.

As they spent more time together, their professional relationship deepened into a close friendship. They shared late-night takeouts, laughed over inside jokes, and supported each other through the challenges of running a business. Taehyung admired Jisoo's passion and dedication, while Jisoo found herself drawn to his optimism and kindness.

It wasn't long before their friendship blossomed into something more. Taehyung remembered the night it happened, clear as day. They had been working late, putting the finishing touches on a major project. Exhausted but exhilarated, they had decided to celebrate with a few drinks. One thing led to another, and before they knew it, they were kissing, the world around them fading into the background.

From that moment on, Taehyung and Jisoo were a couple. They navigated the ups and downs of their relationship, balancing their personal and professional lives with remarkable grace. They were a power duo, building Kim Creations into a successful company while growing closer every day.

But as Taehyung sat there, lost in the memories, he realized something. While their journey had been filled with love and achievement, it had also been marked by moments of uncertainty and doubt. There had been times when they struggled to communicate, when the pressures of work and life strained their relationship. And in those moments, they had both changed, sometimes in ways they didn't even notice.

He opened his eyes, meeting Jisoo's gaze. Her eyes were shining with unshed tears, and she squeezed his hand tightly. "Tae, we've been through so much together. We built Kim Creations from the ground up, we faced every challenge head-on. I know things aren't perfect right now, but... we can find our way back. We just need to remember why we fell in love in the first place."

Taehyung swallowed, feeling a lump in his throat. He wanted to believe her, to believe that they could recapture what they once had. But as he looked at her, he couldn't shake the feeling that something fundamental had shifted between them.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Jisoo, I remember everything. Our first meeting, our late nights working on projects, the way we used to laugh together. And I cherish those memories. But... things are different now. I've changed, and I think you have too."

Jisoo's grip tightened, her voice trembling. "Tae, please. Don't say that. We can make this work. We just need to try harder, to communicate better."

Taehyung felt a tear escape his eye, and he wiped it away quickly. "I want to believe that, Jisoo. But I can't ignore how I feel. My heart... it's not in the same place it used to be. And it's not fair to either of us to pretend otherwise."

Jisoo looked away, her shoulders shaking as she tried to hold back her tears. "So, what does this mean for us? Are you... are you giving up on us?"

Taehyung's heart broke at the pain in her voice. He reached out, gently cupping her face. "I'm not giving up, Jisoo. But I think we need to be honest with ourselves. Maybe we've been holding on to the past because we're afraid of what it means to let go. Maybe... we need to figure out who we are without each other, to see if we can find our way back, or if it's time to move on."

Jisoo closed her eyes, her tears finally spilling over. She nodded slowly, unable to speak. Taehyung pulled her into a gentle hug, holding her as she cried. He felt his own tears falling, mingling with hers.

As they sat there, wrapped in each other's arms, Taehyung knew that this was just the beginning of a long and painful journey. They had shared so much, and letting go was going to be incredibly difficult. But deep down, he felt a sense of relief, a tiny flicker of hope that maybe, just maybe, they could find their own paths and heal from the pain of the past.

For now, though, they had each other, and that was enough. As the night stretched on, Taehyung and Jisoo clung to each other, silently mourning the love they had lost and the uncertain future that lay ahead.
