"i still think it is a bad idea to go see willow in this state. especially being around your mom and jasmine." kiana stated into the phone. i looked down at my lap, armin driving us to my mom's house as i spoke. "i know but connie has lowkey been begging for armin and i to come over." i replied and kiana sighed. "okayyy...but let me know if anything happens and don't let anything ruin your mood. we just got you back to a somewhat good state of mine. okay?" i hummed, heart racing as armin pulled into the driveway.

"i'm serious, dakota. i know she's your sister but i'll beat a bitch's ass."

i heard armin laugh a bit to himself while i nodded behind the phone. "thank you, kie. i'll call you later, we just pulled up." i told her. "okay, love you, kota. eren says bye."

"love you too, bye eren." soon she hung up and i blew out air through my mouth. "you sure you don't want to reschedule. willow will always be there." armin rubbed his thumb over my knee. "i'm sure. i'm gonna be fine. i'm just here for willow." i confirmed and armin nodded. "you just say the word and we're gone, okay?"

"okay."

we got out of the car, my heart still pounding as we walked up to the front door. i was praying that this was going to be a good visit. everything inside me was saying it wasn't but i wasn't going to let that take away the joy of seeing my niece. armin knocked and we sat waiting for a sec before my mom answered the door.

she raised an eyebrow and i already knew it was gonna be some shit. "oh? well if it isn't my daughter. coming to see the baby girl, i assume?" her voice had a hit of irritation and passive behind it but i kept pushing. "i am. connie really wanted us to see her."

"what about jasmine? you know...your sister?"

"she hasn't been responding to my calls. i tried to tell her that i was coming but nothing." i replied and my mom rolled her eyes. "yeah because you missed her birth. she didn't take it very lightly, dakota."

i closed my eyes, squeezing armin's hand in mine for grounding. "yes, i know but i didn't come to talk about all that. i came to see willow. connie!" i yelled into the house so i could have someone come to my rescue. "hey! don't you come in here will all that yelling. this a calm and peaceful household before you showed up to my front door unannounced."

"it wasn't unannounced," i heard connie's voice from behind my mom. "i invited them here. i wanted them to see willow." i let out a sigh of relief from his presence. "and what about jasmine...she isn't going to like this." my mom poked her tongue in her cheek and i rolled my eyes. "well that's why she's sleep right now. come on in guys." he waved us in and my mother begrudgingly moved out the way.

armin and i walked in, passing my mother and following connie. the house was still the same but the presence of my father was most definitely gone. my father was staying at an apartment all the way in tampa. i figured he'd want to leave florida entirely but he said he was working on it. but the house was still the same and it still had that heavy weight of sadness within in.

"how's jasmine?" i asked and connie looked surprised. "you care? no offence." he said and i shrugged. "she's still my sister even if she treats me like shit." i muttered the last part. "well... right now she's fine. but she's been stressing herself out and it has caused some problems."

"problems?"

"yeah...but let's not talk about that right now. y'all came to see willow." connie waved off and armin gave me a look. i'd be lying if i said that the problems that jasmine were causing weren't worrisome. especially since she had a newborn to raise.
