L O C A T I O N : deja's restaurant
___________________________

"thanks you deja for letting us use the restaurant." jasmine pulled out a seat. "no problem, i don't open until 11 anyway, so y'all have time to talk. i'll just be in the back getting things stocked." she explained before walking away. i wanted to ask her about how things were going with zariyah since they worked together and i hadn't seen her around since i got back. deja did tell me that she didn't want to talk about it and kiana said they were going through a rough patch but i just wanted to see it for myself.

as if jasmine had read my mind, she said, "i wondering if zariyah will be coming in."

"same, kiana said they were going through something but i just wanna know." i crossed my legs and leaned back into my seat. "do you think it's zariyah or deja?" she asked and i furrowed my eyebrows. "what?"

"who do you think is causing the problems? deja or zariyah?"

"deja, hundred percent." i stated quickly. "zariyah just lives, she doesn't do shit to that girl. deja doesn't even like being in a relationship half the time so i'm surprised it lasted this long." i scratched the back of my neck. "i don't think they are together to be honest because with the time you've been gone, deja hasn't brought zariyah around. i just see her on insta but that's it."

i nodded, agreeing with her, "she comments on my insta post sometimes but other than that, i haven't seen her." jasmine and i stopped our conversation as our dad walked through the door. i smiled as jasmine turned around. "hi daddy, how was your night?" i asked, getting up and hugging him. "tiring but i get to see you guys." he answered and hugged jasmine once i sat down.

"you look tired." i observed him. he had bags under his eyes and he looked like he lost weight. "dad...are you okay?" i asked trying to understand why he was in virginia in the first place. once all of us were sitting back down, dad sighed and looked down.

"your mother and i are getting a divorce."

i leaned forward with a confused expression on my face, "excuse me?" i questioned again. jasmine's eyes widened and she looked at our father with a frown. "what? why would-...why did this happen?"

"your mother...she was...taking money from me."

jasmine and i looked at each other. "money? why-why would she do that?" jasmine continue to ask question after question while i sat there confused and stunned. "jazzy, i need you to calm down." my dad looked at jasmine and she scoffed. "you are divorcing my mother...how can i be calm about this."

i snapped out of it, "what? you don't believe him?" i turned to her. "what?"

"you made it sound like this random stranger was divorcing your mother. he's our father jasmine!" i exclaimed. "and our mother is still our mother. flesh and blood."

"fuck flesh and blood! erwin has treated me more like a daughter than that women, you KNOW that!" i defended him. i was on my father side hundred percent. fuck my mother at this point. i could believe that she was doing this as well. it's something that i would past her due to her snake like nature but jasmine on the other hand was not used to this.

she wasn't used to our mother being in the wrong and treating her like the fucking golden child.

"jasmine, you are pregnant. i don't need you stressed out, calm down." dad stated sternly and she took a deep breath in. "i'm sorry but seriously though...i need you to explain."

he looked at me and i nodded, wanting him to explain as well. not to prove his innocence but just because i wanted to know how my mother had the audacity to steal money.
