Chapter 11: Kaya's Routine

Early in the morning, before the sun fully rose, Kaya was already awake and preparing to go to school. His days were much busier than before, but he enjoyed it. There was a certain satisfaction in following this routine, as if each small step brought him closer to a better future. Even though he sometimes felt tired, Kaya's spirit always pushed him to keep going.

After school, Kaya didn’t go straight home. He had a regular schedule to attend his English lessons at an affordable language course in his town. The course wasn’t large, but it had a comfortable atmosphere. The room was filled with simple desks and a large chalkboard at the front of the class. Every time Kaya entered the room, he felt a surge of motivation to learn.

In class, Kaya was one of the most diligent students. He always sat at the front, taking neat notes on every lesson. His teacher, Ms. Wulan, often praised Kaya for his dedication, even though she knew he came from a difficult background. "Kaya, your English is improving. Keep practicing, and don't hesitate to ask if you don’t understand something," Ms. Wulan said with a warm smile.

After the lessons, instead of playing like most kids his age, Kaya would head to the flea market. There, he searched for used items that might hold more value. The flea market was full of various things, from clothes and household goods to antique items. Kaya had gotten to know the sellers at the market, and they often gave him tips on how to assess the value of antiques. "Look at this, Kaya," one of the sellers, Mr. Haris, said, showing him a small vase. "If you look closely at the details, this could be a valuable antique." Kaya learned a lot from these conversations, and even though he couldn’t always afford to buy items, the knowledge he gained was invaluable.

As the sun began to set, Kaya would finally return home. But even though he was tired, he wouldn’t allow himself to fully rest. The evenings were for self-study. In his modest room, using the second-hand laptop he had bought, Kaya spent hours searching for new information and knowledge on the internet.

Getting connected to the internet wasn’t easy for Kaya. To save money, he made an arrangement with one of his neighbors, Mrs. Ani. "Mrs. Ani, how about I help you with shopping and cleaning your yard, and in return, I can use your Wi-Fi?" Kaya offered. Mrs. Ani, who lived alone, gladly agreed. "You’re a hardworking boy, Kaya. Feel free to use my Wi-Fi whenever you want," she said. This arrangement allowed Kaya to keep learning without worrying about the cost of internet.

With this internet access, Kaya explored various topics that piqued his curiosity. He often visited websites offering free tutorials, from furthering his English skills to learning the basics of coding. Kaya also frequently watched YouTube videos that taught him how to repair electronics or better identify valuable antiques. Whenever he found something interesting, Kaya diligently wrote it down in a special notebook he always carried with him. "Knowledge is the best investment," he thought as he wrote.

Despite his packed schedule, Kaya never forgot to spend time with his family. Every night, he made sure to have dinner with his mother, listening to stories about how the day went at the food stall, and offering simple advice on how they could improve their business. "Mom, maybe we can try some new variations for the cakes we sell. I saw a popular recipe on the internet," Kaya suggested one evening. His mother smiled proudly. "You’re such a smart boy, Kaya. I’ll try that recipe tomorrow," she replied.

On some nights, Kaya sat in front of his laptop, reflecting on his journey so far. "I’ve done a lot, but there’s still a long way to go," he thought. "I have to keep learning and working hard. No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but I have to be prepared for anything."

Kaya knew he was different from his peers. Most kids his age probably didn’t understand why he chose to work hard and save every penny. But for Kaya, every decision he made was driven by his desire to improve his life and his family’s situation. Living in poverty had taught him many things, and he was determined not to return to those difficult times.

Amid his busy schedule, Kaya also continued to think about how he could use the knowledge and skills he had gained. Every night before bed, he always wrote down notes on what he had learned that day and what he wanted to learn next. This wasn’t just a routine; it was a life plan that was gradually leading him toward a bigger goal.
