Dark clouds bypassed the silver moon that sat high casting a silver glow over the silent town. April sat solitary, her eyes on the darkness before her, tall houses crept skyward and shrouded streets disappeared behind a thick fog. April listened to the deafening silence and the splash of waves hitting the side of Cook's dad's boat. She looked like a statue her skin carved out of ivory, her dark hair lay limp on her shoulders and her brown eyes stared out blindingly, the slow rising of her chest was the only sign that she was still alive.

"Full moon." April turned to Cook's dad who stepped out onto the boat, a bottle of beer in hand. "When the full moon rises... ..gods and monsters will come out to play." He laughed.

April turned back to the moon reflecting on the water.

"So how does it feel? Eh? To have everyone want you?" He asked after a moment of silence."That Donny's desperate to get into your pants. Are you gonna let him?"

April's eyes glanced at him again as his hand rested on her knee.

"What about me? You gonna let me into your pants? Yeah. Too pretty for your own good. That's why you destroy everything you touch."

"Look who's talking." April snorted.

"I'm Guns N' Roses, love. I've got an appetite for destruction." Cook's dad scoffed at her assertion.

"You're not his dad. Not really." April said shaking her head.

"And you're not his girlfriend. Not really. You're going to fucking snap that boy's heart in two." He said his finger pointing sharply at the girl, his voice raised.

"And you've been doing it to him every day of his life." April said getting up from the side of the boat and hopping down to the pier.

"Where do you think you're going?" Cook's Dad shouted after her.

"Nowhere." April called back walking away.

April curled up by the phone box she'd used to call her dad. The pound was hot in her hand as she weighed the choice she was about to make.

Would he want to talk to her? Did he even want to see her?

In a trance like state, she punched in the first and last number she thought of.

"Hello?" The voice said. "Hello?!"

"Katie..." April said trembling.

"April? Why are you calling me?" Katie sat up in bed her cell phone against her ear, shocked that April had finally decided to turn up (or call).

"I...I need you to call Freddie." April said ignoring Katie's question.

"April? What the fuck? Where are you?" Katie asked

"Call Freddie and tell him Cook's in trouble, yeah?" April said.

"April..." Katie said confused.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." April said silent tears rolling down her face as she dropped the phone. Katie's voice kept calling her name on the other line but April just sat crying silently, repeating her sorry until her voice grew hoarse.
