FLASHBACK (⚠️😭🤧)
As soon as Eros and Gu Wei entered their room, Eros gently laid Gu Wei down, who was still trembling even more than before. "Wei², can you tell me what's going on?" Eros asked worriedly, grabbing a glass of water. Gu Wei began rubbing his hand, which had been kissed by that man, until it turned red.
Suddenly remembering what had happened back at his house. Eros quickly approached Gu Wei. "I'm disgusting, I'm disgusting," Gu Wei repeated over and over. Without hesitation, Yibo embraced him. "Shhhh, don't say that," he whispered, but Gu Wei sobbed uncontrollably and tried to break free from Yibo's hold. Eros frantically grabbed his phone and called Lay, desperate for advice.
"Let me go, I have a husband, please!" Gu Wei cried out, tears streaming down his face. Eros sighed in relief when Lay finally answered, though Lay was shocked to hear Gu Wei's voice. "What happened?" he asked, his voice full of concern. Eros explained what was happening to Gu Wei, and even though it was difficult for Lay to say how to calm him down, he gave Yibo instructions.
"Spray your perfume," Lay quickly advised. Eros frowned, confused as to what his perfume had to do with anything. "What do you mean?" Yibo asked. "Just do it," Lay commanded before ending the call. Eros hurriedly let go of Gu Wei and grabbed his perfume, spraying it around the entire room.
Meanwhile, Gu Wei continued crying, scrubbing his skin as if trying to clean himself, repeatedly whispering, "I have a husband, stop." Yibo didn't know what was happening, but soon enough, Gu Wei began to calm down. "What's happening?" Eros thought to himself, confused.
After a few minutes Gu Wei glared at Yibo, and although Yibo's head was pounding with pain, he seemed to forget it in the chaos of the situation.
"You're really going to pretend, Yibo, that you don't know that man?" Gu Wei suddenly asked. Eros looked at him, bewildered. "Who is he?" Gu Wei asked, but his question only fueled Gu Wei's anger. If Ebisu was important to Erod, there's no way he would forget that man's face. That man had been Zhan's friend, the one Yibo had been jealous of, and the man who had kidnapped Zhan 16 years ago-the same man in the picture Liying had shown.
Despite his shaky legs and trembling hands, Gu Wei forced himself to stand. Seeing this, Eros rushed over to help, but Gu Wei harshly told him not to come closer. "I hate you so much, Yibo!" Gu Wei shouted in rage.
Eros, on the other hand, felt like his head was about to explode from the pain, and now he was even more frustrated, not understanding why Gu Wei was so furious. Who was that man, and why was Gu Wei reacting this way? "Please, Gu Wei, explain what's going on. I have no idea why you're acting like this," Eros said, unable to stop his own tears from falling.
Gu Wei let out a maniacal laugh before breaking down into sobs. "Now that you know who I am, what's the point in pretending to be someone else?" Gu Wei began. Yibo was stunned by his words, even though he already knows who Gu Wei is. "I heard your conversation with A-Yuan," Gu Wei continued, shocking Yibo even further. "The bracelet A-Yuan wore had a mic and camera. I heard everything you said in the hospital and the small village," Gu Wei revealed, stepping closer to Yibo before slapping him hard enough to draw blood from his lip.
"What kind of father are you? Of all the people in this world, you chose to hurt your own son. I understand your anger toward me, but your hatred toward A-Yuan, who is innocent, is something I will never accept. I can't accept that you loved the child of that woman, who isn't even your blood, more than your own son," Gu Wei said through sobs, taking a deep breath. "And since you're pretending you don't know that man, let me tell you."
Gu Wei took off his suit, while Yibo, still in shock and not saying a word, felt like the pain in his head was slowly killing him. Yibo's eyes widened in horror when he saw Gu Wei's back, covered in scars from burns, lashings, and large circular marks. Yibo's hand flew to his mouth as his tears kept falling uncontrollably. "That man kidnapped me and did all of this, along with my sister, Liying," Gu Wei said, staring directly at Eros.
Eros tried to step forward, but the pain in his head became unbearable, and he collapsed onto the floor. "Why does it have to hurt now?" Yibo muttered to himself. Gu Wei noticed Yibo's condition but paid no attention to him. "You're useless," Gu Wei said, not expecting such a weak reaction from Yibo after learning the truth. What he didn't know was that Yibo was consumed with rage but being tormented by the pain in his head.
"I hate you so much. I wish I hadn't fought to survive for the sake of you and our child. You didn't even try to find me. Instead, you married my sister. You're a worthless man," Gu Wei spat.
" Gu Wei cried before turning to leave. He was about to head to the bathroom, but Yibo's voice stopped him. "I'm sorry I didn't recognize that man," Eros said, clutching his hair, hoping it would ease the throbbing pain in his head. Before Gu Wei could take another step, Yibo spoke again. "I don't recognize people's faces, not even my own," Yibo added, and this time Gu Wei turned to look at him, watching as Eros banged his head against the edge of the bed. "And do you know what hurts the most?" Erod continued. "That I can't recognize the face of our own son. A-Yuan grew up, and I didn't even know what his face looked like. I don't know if he took after you or me," Yibo said, tears streaming down his face.
"But do you know, despite everything, the only face I see clearly right now is yours, I wish I didn't recognize your face because it's like I've burned out like a candle while seeing the pain, anger, hatred, pity, and love all clearly reflected in your eyes as your expression changes," Eros said, unaware that his nose had started bl@eding.
"You think if I had recognized that man, I wouldn't have done something?" Eros asked, still clutching his hair. "I'd be willing to become a cr@minal for you, Zhan" he whispered, but it was as clear as day to Gu Wei's ears.
At that moment, all Gu Wei wanted to do was take back everything he'd said, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't. Despite his shock, his feet seemed to have a mind of their own, carrying him toward where Yibo sat.
"AAAAHHHH, MY HEAD HURTS!" Yibo screamed, banging his head against the edge of the bed. Gu Wei ran to him.
"I didn't marry Liying because I wanted to or because I loved her," Eros whispered. "Don't say anything," Gu Wei urged, noticing that Yibo was weakening but still forcing himself to speak. Gu Wei grabbed a tissue. "Do you have any medicine?" Gu Wei asked, his voice full of worry. But instead of answering, Yibo spoke again. "A few days after Liying told me she was pr@gnant, I was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer," he whispered. Gu Wei froze, mid-motion, as he wiped Yibo's nose.
"To punish myself for what I did to you, I agreed to marry her. Seeing her face every day was like dying slowly because I felt disgusted by her," Eros continued. But then he screamed again as the pain in his head intensified. "I deserve all of this, Zhan, because I wasn't a good father or husband." Gu Wei shook his head in denial.
A few minutes later, Yibo couldn't take the pain any longer and passed out. Gu Wei pressed the emergency button in their room. "Help! Please, help us!" he shouted, but no one could hear him because their room was soundproof. He grabbed his phone and called an ambulance.
When they arrived at the hospital, Gu Wei realized he wasn't wearing any shoes, and he hadn't brought his phone. The connection that allowed Jiyang and Haoxuan to monitor him was also turned off. As Yibo was rushed into the emergency room, Gu Wei couldn't stay still. He finally understood that they were both victims of Liying. Just as he had fought to survive, so had Yibo.
End of flashback.
