As Gu Wei entered the bathroom, he clutched his chest. "Why is everything getting more complicated the longer this goes on? Why is there a doctor?" he whispered to himself.
Meanwhile, Eros couldn’t take his eyes off the door. "I’m sorry," was all he could say as he reheated the food that had gone cold.
A few hours later, Eros excused himself to take a shower, but before entering the bathroom, he asked Gu Wei if he wanted to join him. "Go to hell, gangster," Gu Wei retorted, throwing a pillow at Yibo, but before it could hit him, Yibo had already closed the door. "He’s really crazy," Gu Wei muttered, then stepped outside and turned on his phone. Despite his hesitation, he called Yibo's mother first. It took a few rings before the other line picked up, as it was already 8 PM.
"Hello Zha...Gu Wei," Katrina quickly corrected herself on the other end. "Hello, Auntie. If you don’t mind, can I ask you something?" Gu Wei asked, a smile tugging at his lips as he heard Katrina’s warm response.
"Of course, what is it?" she replied. Gu Wei took a deep breath.
"Since you know who I am now, I don’t think you’ll be surprised if I ask this: when I disappeared, where was Yibo?" Katrina was puzzled by his question.
"Where was he? What do you mean?" she asked, confused. Gu Wei took another deep breath.
"I mean, when I was gone, was there a time when Eros also disappeared?" Katrina struggled to understand, but she tried to make sense of it. "Do you mean, like, did he go abroad?" Gu Wei nodded, even though she couldn’t see him.
"Yes," he confirmed. There was a brief silence on Katrina’s end, as if she was recalling something. She hesitated before speaking. "A few years after he married that witch Liying, I heard he went abroad for a project," she said, causing Gu Wei to frown.
"Heard? So you’re not sure?" Gu Wei asked, puzzled.
"When he decided to marry that woman, I didn’t speak to him for a long time and even banned him from entering my house. But I kept track of their situation without them knowing," Katrina admitted. Gu Wei didn’t know why, but he suddenly felt pity for Eros, something he shouldn’t feel after what Eros had done. But he had a strong feeling that something was wrong.
Seeing Eros approaching, Gu Wei quickly ended the call. "Okay, Auntie, he’s here now. Let’s talk again later," he said, but before he could hang up, Katrina asked, "Are you two together?" Gu Wei didn’t answer.
"It’s cold out here," Eros said as he approached. "Ah, okay. I just wanted to tell you that I’m happy you’re together," Katrina said before ending the call.
Gu Wei remained silent as Yibo draped the jacket over his shoulders. They both stood quietly, absorbing the stillness around them and the cold wind brushing against their skin.
"Whenever I come here, I forget the chaos of my life in the city, the mess I've gotten myself into," Yibo said, staring into the distance. Gu Wei glanced at him. "Is your life really that chaotic?" he asked. Yibo chuckled. "Yeah, especially since I married my sister-in-law," he said, still gazing ahead.
"But I guess I deserve all of it," he added. Yibo then looked at Gu Wei, slightly surprised to find him looking back. "What about you? How has your life been?" Yibo asked. Suddenly, Gu Wei choked on his saliva, and Yibo quickly patted his back.
"Was the question that bad, that you choked?" Yibo joked, but he couldn’t miss the sadness in Gu Wei's eyes.
Elsewhere, instead of taking a break, Liying was interrupted by a series of calls. "What’s going on?" she asked herself, then opened a message.
"When are we holding the emergency meeting? That video circulating is not good for the company."
"Our stock is also dropping."
"If this continues, we’ll sell our shares."
Liying frowned, "What video are they talking about?" she wondered again, and upon seeing that her secretary was calling, she quickly answered. "Why is the board in chaos?" she asked firmly. It took a few seconds before her secretary responded.
"Ma'am, your video at the amusement park is trending right now." Liying's eyes widened. She never thought that what happened earlier would escalate like this. Without saying a word, she ended the call and checked the internet. She gripped her phone tightly when she saw that the amusement park incident was trending as the top search, titled: "The CEO of Liying's company snatched his brother's husband."
Top Comments:
"Maybe the reason Mr. Wang never brings her to events is that he's ashamed of her."
"But you can’t steal someone who’s not willing."
"What if he had no choice? Based on the CEO’s behavior in the video, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was no foul play."
"But the guy holding the mic was handsome."
"I’m a fan of the clothes she designs, but now I regret buying them."
"Can I return the clothes I bought? I’m worried the designer’s indecency might rub off on me."
Liying screamed after reading the netizens' reactions, "Fuck you, Gu Wei, you’ll pay for this!" she shouted.
On the other hand. "Let’s go inside; it’s getting too cold," Yibo urged Gu Wei.
"You go ahead, I’ll just finish one cigarette," Gu Wei said as he lit a cigarette, preparing to return Yibo’s jacket, but Yibo insisted he keep it to avoid catching a cold. "Go inside immediately," Yibo said before leaving.
Once Gu Wei was sure Yibo was inside, he quickly grabbed his phone and called Haoxuan, who answered immediately.
"Can you check the background of the person who named Mianmian Jin? She’s a doctor in Canada," Gu Wei said without giving the person on the other line a chance to speak.
Meanwhile. "She’s pregnant, what should we do?" the person who read the message smirked. "Monitor her every move," he said, about to put away his phone when it vibrated again.
"Your plan to buy shares in Liying's company—this is the time. The video from earlier at the amusement park is trending, and I’ve heard that many shareholders are selling their shares." His grin widened. "You handle everything."
Just as Eros was about to call Lulu, her name appeared on his screen, so he answered immediately.
"Yibo, we just arrived at the hotel," Lulu said on the other end. "Do you want to talk to Ziyi about what you were asking?" she offered. "Yes," Yibo replied without hesitation.
After handing the phone to Ziyi. She asked if they were talking about him. Although Ziyi couldn’t see him, Yibo quickly shook his head.
Eros glanced at the door where Gu Wei was before speaking. "Is it normal for someone to react when you kiss them?" he asked. Ziyi raised an eyebrow. "Was it willingly or forced?" Ziyi questioned. Yibo hesitated. "Actually, we kissed twice. The first time, there was no reaction, but the second time... it was different," Yibo explained, recounting what had happened at his house.
Ziyi found the situation familiar but wasn't entirely sure of her thoughts. "If you have time, bring him to me," Ziyi suggested. "Alright" Yibo said and hung up.
"Why? What’s up, Wei²?" Gu Wei looked inside the house. And saw Yibo looking at him. "She’s Yibo’s doctor. Okay, keep me updated," Gu Wei said before ending the call, smiling at Eros.
When Gu Wei went inside, he found Yibo lying on the sofa, which surprised him. "Are you going to sleep here?" Gu Wei asked. Yibo got up smiling. "Yes, unless you want us to sleep together" Gu Wei rolled his eyes.
