The next morning, while they were driving back to the city, Eros asked Gu Wei, who was looking out the window, "Can I ask you to meet up with me tonight?" Gu Wei didn't respond, assuming Eros wasn't talking to him.
"Gu Wei," Eros called out, making Gu Wei finally turn his head. Gu Wei looked at him but remained silent, clearly waiting for Yibo to speak again.
"Can we meet up tonight?" Eros asked again. Gu Wei stared blankly at him. "I don't think I can. I have a lot to do," he replied, noticing the sadness in Yibo's eyes but choosing to ignore it. He tried to avoid Eros because last night he kissed him, when he felt A-yuan was asleep. Even though he wanted to, he wasn't sure about everything.
"What about this afternoon, around 3 PM?" Eros suggested. Gu Wei glanced at A-yuan, who smiled back at him.
"What are we going to do?" Gu Wei asked without much enthusiasm. "Ah, I have a friend I'd like you to meet," Eros said nervously. Gu Wei raised an eyebrow.
"Please, just say yes," Eros pleaded. Gu Wei turned his gaze back to the window. "Okay," he replied curtly, which made Yibo and A-yuan happy.
When they arrived at Gu Wei's house, Yibo wanted to come in, but Gu Wei reminded him that they would see each other later. Before getting out of the car, Gu Wei smiled at A-yuan. He wanted to ask A-yuan to stay at his place, but he hesitated, thinking Eros might get suspicious. However, Eros already knew the truth.
"Take care on the road, and A-yuan, don't neglect yourself," Gu Wei said before stepping out of the car.
Elsewhere, Mianmian picked up her phone. "Hello, Ji."
"Oh, what made you call? Is your patient not listening to you again?" the man on the other line teased. Mianmian sighed. "You have no idea how stressed I am right now. Can you help me convince your friend?" she asked.
"I talked to him the other night and told him to be honest with Gu Wei and get the surgery, but it seems we're not going to change his mind," he replied sadly. "By the way, why did you call? I know it’s not just about this," he added, and Mianmian remembered the reason for her call.
"Oh right, I called to ask for Yibo's mom's number and Gu Wei's too." The man on the other line was puzzled. "Wait, wait. I just realized something. Do you know that Gu Wei and Zhan are the same person?" he asked, shocked. Mianmian on the other line laughed. "You idiot, we’ve been talking about this, and you just realized it now." She said. "So, do you need their numbers?" The man asked on the other line.
"I want to talk to them about this. If we can’t convince Chen Yu, maybe their parents can do something before Gu Wei marries Chen Yu’s cousin." The man on the other line hesitated, thinking about how Yibo might react. But if this was the only way to extend his life, they had to do it. "Alright, I’ll send it to you."
"Thanks," Mianmian said, sighing after hanging up. "Love is hard," she whispered.
Meanwhile, after dropping A-yuan off at his parents’ house, Yibo headed straight to the house he had built.
"We'll meet tonight," Eros texted Liying with a meaningful smile before calling Lulu. The phone rang a few times before she picked up. "Hello, Yibo."
"Hello, Jie."
"Did your friend agree to meet tonight?" Lulu asked, smiling.
"Yes, Jie, but as I mentioned, I don't want my friend to know that your girlfriend is a psychologist. He might think we're interfering too much in his life." Lulu chuckled. "Alright, alright. We have something to do now."
"Okay, Jie."
On the other hand, when Gu Wei entered his house, Haoxuan, Jiyang, and Lay were already waiting for him in the living room. "You're back," Lay said, sitting Gu Wei down beside him. "Are you okay?" Lay asked with concern. Gu Wei leaned on Lay. "Honestly, I don't know how to answer that," he said with his eyes closed, making the three of them exchange glances.
"Did something happen?" Jiyang asked. Gu Wei opened his eyes but instead of answering, he asked, "How’s Liying's company? I think what happened had a big impact on her company." Haoxuan and Jiyang smiled at him.
"Whoever uploaded the video, let's thank them because of that, Jiyang suddenly became the CEO of Liying's company." Gu Wei asked happily, "Really?" then his expression changed to confusion. "You didn’t post the video?" Haoxuan and Jiyang exchanged another glance before shaking their heads.
"We were about to upload it when the video suddenly spread," they said, and Gu Wei's face showed doubt. "Ahhh, but how did you become the CEO?" Jiyang laughed as he explained what happened at the company the previous day.
"I'm excited to see her reaction when she finds out that the person she thought was her friend is actually the one ruining her life, just like she did to me before," Gu Wei said, standing up. "I'll return everything she did to me, even worse," he added as he walked upstairs to his room.
As he entered his room, he suddenly remembered what Mianmian had said. 'Maybe the person you want revenge on has suffered too.' He leaned against the door. "What really happened to Yibo when I was gone?" he asked himself, stopping when his phone vibrated. "I'll pick you up later," the message read. After reading it, he threw his phone on the bed and went into the bathroom.
Facing the mirror, he removed his shirt and examined himself. Scars weren’t only on his back but also on his stomach. "I'm a monster, I'm dirty," he said, staring at the large mirror.
Meanwhile, when Liying read Yibo's message, she almost jumped for joy. But her excitement was cut short when she called Yibo, and he was unreachable. "It's okay, Liying, at least he was the one who suggested meeting," Liying reassured herself. But when her phone vibrated again, she quickly opened it, thinking it was a message from Yibo. Her shoulders slumped when she read the message. "The money this afternoon, don't forget."
"Shit!" She cursed under her breath, almost forgetting about it. She took a deep breath and called Jiyang. It rang three times before he answered. "Hello Liying, how are you?" Jiyang immediately asked.
"Can we meet for a bit?" she asked hesitantly. On the other side, Gu Wei, Lay, Haoxuan, and Jiyang exchanged amused glances, trying not to laugh. "Sure, where?" Jiyang asked.
"Here at the house, I'll send you the address" Liying replied. Jiyang smiled. "Okay."
"I don't have anyone else close to me. I don’t want to ask Yibo. It might cause a fight," Liying thought.
Meanwhile, after the call ended, Gu Wei looked at them, still puzzled despite his earlier laughter. Haoxuan looked at Jiyang. "Ahh, we messaged her, letting her know that we know the truth, but we won’t say anything if she gives us money" Haoxuan explained. But they didn’t tell him that the phone they used belonged to the man who kidnapped Ebisu, whom they had locked in the basement. Since Gu Wei wasn't fully recovered, they couldn't tell him about that man yet.
"I didn't know she was that stupid," Gu Wei said, laughing.
Elsewhere. After Mianmian called the parents of Eros and Gu Wei, she sighed in relief when they agreed, despite being suspicious of who Mianmian really was. "If it weren’t for my friendship with Chen Yu, I wouldn’t meddle in their lives. But I think the punishment he's inflicting on himself is enough" Mianmian thought while sitting in her condo. Even though she lives in another country, she owns a condo in C, so that if Chen Yu has any problems, she won’t have to travel far.
Meanwhile, as Gu Wei, Lay, and Haoxuan talked in the living room, Gu Wei mentioned that he would be meeting Yibo later that day. "Did he say why?" Lay asked calmly. Gu Wei leaned back in his seat and lit a cigarette. "He didn’t tell me either, but didn’t he mention that he was meeting Liying tonight?" Gu Wei.
