Stef:

It's been a month since I was in Prison and I haven't seen Callie because of the lockdown. I was grateful when Ms. Miles had let me use her phone that one time so I could tell Callie what she should do until she turned 18. The last thing I needed was her to end up living with strangers and putting her in a totally different school and me not knowing where she will be.

It was a Wednesday afternoon and Ms. Miles came to my unit and got me.

"Stef. You have a visitor."

I got up and she escorted me to the visitation area when I walked in I saw Callie there and I gave her a big tight hug.

"Hey baby."

"Hey mom."

"So good to see you."

"How are you holding up here?"

"I'm doing okay. I miss you so much."

"I miss you too."

"Were you able to do that thing?"

"Yeah I actually was."

"That's good. How did you get here?"

"Ryan gave me a ride."

"That's good."

"I wish I could see you everyday."

"I know, baby. We can talk on the phone though for a few minutes everyday and we can write to each other all the time."

"Yeah."

"You just hang in there. I know 10 years is a long time but I could get out in 5 if I keep my head down and stay out of trouble."

It was about time to end the visit so we got up and I gave her another big hug and a kiss on the cheek. I then walked with Ms. Miles to the strip search room. Apparently after every visit you get strip searched. I really don't care as long as I get to see my daughter. After the strip search I went back to my cell until it was time to be at the work unit.
