The Love in Between

Chapter 5

Lunch would have been better if this annoying girls didn't interfere.Earlier,I followed Jean to the cafeteria to get lunch and we sat down chatting together.A moment later,something slimy was dumped into Jean from a bunch of girls who crowded around us.They must be the one who bullies Jean.A girl with a rainbow colored hair slammed her palm on the table and met my gaze.

"I'm the president of the Zane fan club and we're here to warn you that don't get your ambitions up and get close to Zane!"Humans are too obsessed.

"Did Zane give you the permission to do that?"I sat up straight and met her glare.

"You're pretty but don't get too arrogant.If you join our club we'll save you the trouble of getting dumped on with this slimy stuff."From the corner of my eye,I saw someone lift up a bucket.

I concentrated to see if there's water on the slimy stuff and felt that half of it is water.I smirked.

"What are you smiling about?Have you decided to join us?"

"I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of that jerk."I got ready to make the slimy stuff move but was interrupted with a familiar and annoying voice.

"Hey,that hurts!"Zane was standing there with two more handsome guys."Hi ladies!"

I rolled my eyes.He still has the nerve to greet them.He's a narcissist.I glared at him and I swear I saw the eyes of the girl with the rainbow hair twinkle when he saw Zane.Whispers of admiration can be also heard from the other girls.

"Master,we were just teaching them a lesson for tainting your image.This freaks shouldn't be near you."Zane is amused,I can tell.

"Master?"I laughed at the nickname and earned many glares that Jean flinched.

"Hey,trying to save you here.If your just gonna laugh why don't you just slap them or pull their hair out to get this over with."Zane said in annoyance.I just stared at him like he was stupid.

"How do you think would I do that when my body is all sore because you were lying on top of me all night.I swear just moving my finger makes me flinch."I said in a monotone voice but suddenly,the cafeteria was quiet,everyone was stunned except for Jean who was shivering and Zane who was trying hard not to laugh."What?Did I say something wrong?"Suddenly,everyone started talking at the same time.

"You slept with Zane?"The rainbow colored hair girl asked with a pained expression.

"Yeah.Is there something wrong with that?"They are confusing me.

Zane started laughing and the guys who's with him started patting his back and teasing him of doing "it".The girls are also making that jealous faces.Was there something wrong with what I said?

"Luna what's with that announcement."Zane is out of breath from laughing."Anyway more importantly,I hate to say it girls but I would love it if you disband this fan club of yours and stop bullying my friends."Zane had this sweet glare directed at the rainbow-girl.She nodded, agreed almost immediately, and left the cafeteria with the other girls behind her.

"You should have done that sooner."I said to Zane and took a bite of the burger that Jean gave me.

"Luna are you dump or stupid?"I glared at Zane as he sat down beside me while Jean excused herself to the bathroom and the guys from before were nowhere to be seen.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You just announced earlier that we just slept together.It's like announcing that you're not a virgin anymore."The virgin part, I get it, but what does that have to do with what I said earlier.

"I just said that we slept together there are no other meaning to it."I shrugged.

"The other meaning is sex."Zane said bluntly.I turned red when everything clicked into place.

"That's not what I meant!"I panicked and finally noticed that some of the students who are eating was looking at us.

"Well,it's what they understood.Don't worry it would die down soon and everyone will forget about it."Zane comforted.Honestly,I don't know if this human is a devil or an angel.

We went back to class when Jean returned.Later,the two guys with Zane was finally introduced as Jack and Austin,they were Zane's friends but they have different classroom than ours.I have a feeling that Zane and his friends will be hanging out with us from now on.That prediction came true the next day.

It has been a week since I got here and I still don't have the necklace and today is a weekend so no school.I plan to help Jean change her style today by shopping for new glasses and for the clothes I would gratefully sacrifice my closet for it.My closet is full with dresses that I don't need.Urn had really overdone it.

"Isn't Zane coming?"Jean asked when we were waiting for the elevator to open.

"Just leave him.I have a job for him when we get back."I grinned.

Jean nervously led me to a shop filled with glasses where she first had her check-up.I talked to them to remove the oversize glasses and changed it to something smaller and I got the result that I wanted before I dragged Jean back to the dorm and to my room after that.

"Put this on."I tossed her a mini-dress and pushed her in the closet.She timidly agreed.

I went out for a second and came back with the annoyed Zane whom I woke up.Jean is still in the closet hiding when I checked on her.I dragged her out and presented her to Zane.

"Cool,that's better than your sweater and pants.It shows your curves and your long legs."Zane commented.I smiled.

"The next part would be getting you used to wearing them.I'll give some of my dresses to you."I rambled excitedly.

"N-no I'll shop for my own."Jean looks worried.

"Believe me,I have a lot of dresses stashed in there.It would be a waste if I can't use them all."I reassured and she just sighed.Zane started nodding off again and eventually fell sleep on the bed,I let him sleep as I took Jean inside the closet to give her some of my dresses.She took them to her room to arrange,leaving me with a sleeping Zane.

I watched his sleeping face and wondered why am I hesitating to take the necklace away from him?I sighed and laughed at myself for lying.Since the beginning I've already known the reason.It's because I love this boy.For 11 years,he has always stayed in my heart.The necklace was not the only thing I've given him,I also gave him my heart. Aside from that romantic reason, the most logical one is that I want to stay here a little longer.
