The Love in Between

Chapter 12

Blaire glared at Jean who slapped me earlier as she fussed over my cheek.An employee took us in a private room after the comotion that Jean caused then after apologizing to her for everything and explaining(except for the mermaid part),she finally calmed down before Blaire found us.

"You!I don't care who you are but you can't just go slapping My Lady like that!"Blaire said with a furious face.

"Blaire calm down.This is my friend,Jean Foster."I introduced as Zane sat beside me.

"Hi and I'm sorry.That was just a greeting."Blaire's expression changed.

"Jean Foster?The painter?"We stared at Blaire as her voice rose to excitement.

"Er yes?"Jean answered nervously.

"Oh gosh,I'm a huge fan!Wait here!"Blaire rushed out of the room.

"Sorry,my secretary is bipolar."

"It's okay."Jean sighed.

"So,I heard from Jack that you're engaged."Zane said as he played with my hand.I raised my eyebrow at Jean.

"Well yeah,just recently."She blushed as she showed us her diamond engagement ring.

"To Jack?"I asked in surprise.

"No to Austin."I gasped.

"Wow,back then,I thought that you'd date Jack."Jean blushed.

"Jack is a playboy."Zane explained.

Just then,Blaire came back to ask for an autograph.All of us went out after that for lunch but Austin came to pick up Jean while Blaire took Adam back to the hotel to have our date but instead,we ended up in bed again at Zane's house.

"I have to go back home for a while,I might take a week."I blurted out when we were cuddling in bed.

"I wish I could lock you up but I guess you still have your duty."

I smiled and kissed him.I can't tell him that I'm just going back to give up on my position to be with him.I'll tell him when it's over.

The journey back home was short but I didn't expect my father and mother to be waiting for me.Blaire and Adam was sent away.

"Is there something wrong?"I asked when I sat down.

"Well,this is regarding your husband-to-be and also the future king."My mother explained.My heart skipped a beat.

"What do you mean?"

"We're talking about arraging you to someone.We need a king."My father said.

"An arrange marriage?!"This is bad.

"Yes,we know that you can handle everything but a king is needed."I clenched my fist.

"No!"

"Pardon?"My mother expressed.

"I am not your servant!"My father stood up.His face is full of anger,I stood my ground.

"You are my daughter and you will do as we say."

"Your daughter?Since when?"I scoffed.

"Luna!"My mother warned.

"This is a perfect opportunity.Since you're here,I might as well tell you that I'm stepping down."My mother slapped me.I smirked.

"I did not give birth to you just so you can do this."Now,it's my mother who is angry.

"Then you shouldn't have if you were just gonna leave me to be raised by strangers.I may be smart as they say but I also have feelings.A father who has many children and a mother who doesn't care is really a bad combination."Shock can be registered on their face."I am not your perfect daughter and your puppet.With that many of a sibling,there's no doubt that you can find a replacement for the throne.If you need me,I'll be in the human world."I swam away feeling so light inside,as if though an invisible cage has set me free.

Blaire cried but promised to take care of Adam then bid me farewell.I'm sure that Blaire is going to be okay,she has talent that's why I chose her.Her loyalty is undefeated.

I was exiled from the kingdom with the inheritance of the Trident Inc. that is under the control of Nixon Empire now since I married Zane a year ago.Not only was I banned from the kingdom but I was also banned from working.

"Why can't I go to work?!"I crossed my arm and glared at Zane.

"I'm just going to make a call."Jean,who came to visit,exited the room.Zane sighed.

"Honey,you're 3 months pregnant."He came closer but I pushed his hands away.

"And so?I can still work."

"No.Luna you need to take it easy."

"You're worrying too much!What am I suppose to do if I don't work?!"This time,I let him embrace me but I just stood there.

"I just want you to relax and once you gave birth to our child,you can go back to work.I just want you to be safe."He kissed the top of my head as I sighed and embraced him back.

"Fine."

"That's my girl."

We kissed.Just like in the other version of the story of The Little Mermaid,I have my happy ending.
