The Love in Between

Chapter 10

As soon as Zane opened the passengers door for me,I was met by a big Victorian house.The kind that you can see with the toy dollhouses in the toy stores.It's beautiful but it's weirdly covered in pink.

"Wow,who's barbie?"I touched my lips and smiled at Zane but he just laughed.

"It's okay.Barbie would be my mom.She's a very cheerful and scary woman so don't underestimate her,she has complete control over my dad."He explained as we walked inside the mansion dollhouse.

Outside might be weird but inside is quit normal with antique furniture mixed with modern ones but there are still pinks though.I never thought that I'd see someone obsessed with pink in my life,I thought that they will only appear in movies that humans made.

"Cool,the chandelier is also pink.Guess I'm dressed perfectly then."I commented as we passed by a staircase and a chandelier.I'm wearing a light pink silk satin crepe dress,headband adorned with jewels,earrings and heels,all pink.I swear that by the time that I get out of here,I'll have enough of pink all ready.

"Is that a mermaid instinct?"Zane asked.

"Not exactly.Blaire chose this dress in a hurry because of Adam.She really is a capable secretary."Zane squeezed my hand.

"I'm already tired of pink but with you wearing it,I can bear with it,you look ravishing in it."I blushed as we finally stopped walking in front of a room opened by an arc.The dining room.

Three people,a man,a woman and a female teenager are sitting around a big elongated dining table.The man looks slightly similar to Zane while the woman has a black hair as well but has green eyes that I can see on the teenager's eyes except that her hair is dyed blond.The woman stood up and greeted me with a hug,she smells like candy and she's wearing a pink evening dress.

"You must be Luna,I'm Tia and that is my husband Greg and daughter,Amber.We are all very glad that you could join us."Greg,wearing a suit,smiled and nodded at me while Amber,wearing a green tube mini-dress,just stared with an unknown expression on her face.Zane reminded me earlier to call them in first name basis."Come,sit."Zane pulled the chair in front of Amber and I sat.

"Greg I'm really sorry about my father."Greg waved it off.

"It's okay as long as it's you.Your father is the only one that I cannot work with and if I have known earlier that you're the new CEO,I would have brought the contract to you myself."He patted my hand.

"Except that,you're not the one working anymore."Zane said as he sipped wine feeling irritated somehow.

"Yes,yes."The old man agreed.Somehow,there's a connection between them that I cannot quit get but it's not tension or hate,maybe just something that a man can understand.

"Everyone please,leave business matters to some other time and concentrate on the activity tonight."Tia said as she clapped her hands and people in white uniforms started bringing in variety of foods.I leaned over to Zane.

"Is this how you normally eat?"I whispered.

"No.This night is a special occasion arranged for you.My mother is always like this when there are guests except that today is overly done because you're a girl."He muttered.

"Girl?"

"You're the only girl that my brother has ever brought on his own will."Amber said.I didn't know that she can hear us.That made me feel good inside."By the way,is your hair color natural?"Her expression changed to excitement.

"Er,yes."I can see her eyes brighten.

"That's so cool.That color is really rare now though.Even dyes cannot copy that golden color of yours but they're unusually healthy."I laughed awkwardly.I cannot possibly tell her that the reason is because I'm a mermaid.

"Amber is studying to become a hair stylist."Tia explained and I nodded in understanding."So,Luna,tell me,how long have the two of you been dating?"I stopped chewing and stared at her in confusion.

"Mom!I told you we're not dating."Zane groaned.That gave me a pinch.

"What a waste.The two of you suit each other perfectly and with those looks,you could have given us beautiful grandchildren."Tia sighed in disappointment.

"And you never know,your child might inherit her hair and I can borrow him or her for a model."Amber joined while I just sat there,stunned at their revelation.

"Guys you're overwhelming her."Greg said.At least someone-"But I can't help but agree though."Never mind.

"You guys are crazy."Zane said in frustration then leaned over to me."Ignore them.I'm embarrassed to say that my family is normally like this."He sighed and I just laughed.

They maybe weird but they're the ones whom you can really call a family unlike mine that still consists of hate.But this got me thinking,if I start a relationship with Zane,I wonder what will happen?I'm sure that my folks will disagree with it since I'm the queen but then again,I am THE Queen so whatever I say is the rule and my father already started it,Adam is the evidence.I shook my head,what am I thinking?Even if I can make that possible,Zane would still be the one with the choice.

"Dinner was great Tia.Thank You."I smiled and hugged her as we stood there by the front door.

"Oh it was nothing,come again soon."Tia said.

"And if you ever want to become my model when I graduate,just say so."Amber said gleefully and kissed my cheeks.

"I'll be expecting a lot from the two of you with the company."Greg said not only to me but to Zane as well.We nodded and drove off.

"Okay,tell me,what exactly was that dinner for?"I finally asked as I removed my hairband.

"My father might have agreed but he cannot trust just anybody so I brought you there to show you to my father so that any grim thoughts about you can be cleared."Zane explained.

"Oh."We stayed silent for a while but then I noticed that we were going the wrong way to my hotel."Zane where are we going?"

"Just bear with me for a while,I want to say something to you but not here.I told you didn't I?That if the contract is finished,we're going to solve some personal issues."

"Hey the contract hasn't been signed yet."I disagreed.

"You got my fathers approval so consider it done."Zane insisted and I just kept quiet as I saw the beach.

When Zane stopped the car,it was in front of the beach.He got me out and led me somewhere where there are big rocks everywhere and that's when I noticed the familiarity.The place we stopped in was the place where I saved Zane years ago.

"What are we doing here?"Zane ignored my question and turned me around to face him,he looks gravely serious.

"When you left,I thought that I'll never see you again and I was so devastated that I'd come here whenever I'm free."I was surprised."I promised myself that if I ever see you again,I'll never let you go."He hugged me."Before I found out that you were the one who saved me,I've already fallen in love with you.I love you Luna."

I can't speak,I'm so speechless and at the same time trying to grasp if the situation is a reality or a dream.Did I fell asleep in Zane's car and dreaming right now?But his warmth is so clear,I can feel it and I can feel tears of joy flowing out.I pulled away for a bit then held his face then kissed his lips.

"I love you."

I don't care anymore.I've loved him for so long already.
