"Shit

"Shit... we're cornered," I muttered, eyes darting around the room, taking in the sheer number of ENA employees surrounding us. They closed in slowly, like lions circling their prey, each one waiting for the right moment to pounce.

"Told you we should've gone in guns blazing from the start," Derix said with that irritating smugness in his voice. "But noooo-, Alex had a plan."

"Fuck off," I snapped, gripping my gun tightly. I wasn't in the mood for his jokes. This wasn't a game anymore.

The tension in the air was thick. The employees no, they weren't just employees. They were more like soldiers, trained killers stared us down with bloodlust in their eyes, a sea of cold, predatory gazes. We raised our weapons, ready to fire, knowing full well that we were outnumbered. Any wrong move and we'd be dead within seconds.

And then, just as I was about to pull the trigger BOOM.

An explosion rocked the room, the deafening sound tearing through the air. My ears rang, the floor shook, and for a split second, everything went white. When the smoke cleared, every single one of those ENA bastards were lying on the ground, lifeless. Blood poured from their bodies like water from a broken dam, pooling on the floor, so much of it you'd think it could fill a swimming pool. The sight was surreal-gruesome, almost unreal.

"What the-" I started, but before I could finish, a dark figure stepped out of the shadows, moving through the blood as if it were nothing.

"Heh... didn't expect I'd need to save you two idiots again," came a voice, low and familiar.

My heart skipped a beat. That voice. I knew that voice...

"ALEGRA!" Derix practically screamed, his face lighting up with a grin so wide, you'd think Christmas had come early.

She stepped into the dim light, her figure sharp against the carnage she'd just caused. Dressed in her usual all black tactical gear, her eyes locked onto mine, filled with that same old annoyance she always wore when dealing with us.

"Alegra," I said, letting out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. "Didn't think you were in the area... thanks."

She gave me a look that could cut steel, her lips curling into a smirk. "A thanks is all I get? Elio doesn't pay me to save you, y'know. I don't do charity work."

"We had it under control," I replied, trying to regain some of my dignity, though the words felt weak even as I said them.

"Sure, you did," she said, voice dripping with sarcasm.

The silence that followed was heavy, awkward. I didn't have anything else to say. She knew we were screwed, and deep down, I knew it too. We were about five seconds away from getting torn apart before she blew those guys to hell.

Sensing the weird tension, Derix threw his arms around both our necks, pulling us into an uncomfortable huddle. "Isn't this great?!" he beamed, clearly trying to break the ice. "All of the superiors, back together!
