I walk in the courthouse, walking to the courtroom, preparing for this trial I'll be facing against a doctor who operates a surgery and the patients? For some weird reason, I've never done a trial like that. But let's put that aside. I walk in and head to my chair, and wait for everyone to walk in. I fix my collar. My ruby red nails I did are still there, but anyways. A lawyer and what I'm assuming is the patients mom walks in and takes their seat in front. I look at the door as it opens again. A girl, whom I'm assuming, is the lawyer for the doctor. My lips part slightly as I see the doctor following behind the lawyer. It's that doctor. God. Hes...here. the doctor I saw a couple of days ago. I'm operating his case where he has done something wrong. I take a deep breath, adjusting myself. Why am I acting like this?! No. Snap out of it, Jamie. He's probably like any other guy.
"The court has begun." The first lawyer stands.
"If I may your honor." She begins. I nod, signaling she can. "My client is the mom of the patient, and the patient, stella, is severely injured in the leg because of him." She glares at the doctor. I look down at the file. Noah. I hear Noah scoff slightly. Noah's lawyer, Katie, stands up.
"That's crazy and you know it." She blurts out. I clear my throat. She looks at me and slowly sinks in her chair.
"Continue." I tell Melissa.
"As I was saying, he has injured stella, and we will not have it." She says
"Have a seat." I order. She sits back down. I look at Katie. "Go ahead." She straightens her suit and stands up.
"I need to address something your honor. My broth-..." She clears her throat, "Noah here, operated this surgery. Yes, I'm not saying he didn't. But may I add that the surgery was a month ago, so the cruelty to accuse Noah of something that there's no way he has done it is absolutely wrong. He hasn't done anything, and I will stand by it." She states. I take a moment for myself.
"A month ago?" I ask. Katie nods. I look at Melissa and Scarlet. Melissa stands up.
"Clearly, he's not a trustworthy doctor, I mean... I have something to prove it." She says. I look at her impressed. She walks over and hands me a phone with a video. I watch it silently.
"Firstly, this guy has anger issues. You can see that." She says, "Secondly, look at him, yelling at what looks like another doctor." My lips part as I process the video. Noah scoffs. Katie stands up.
"If I may your honor-" I cut her off.
"No, you may not." I say, pausing the video handing it back to Melissa. "The video is clear as day." I say. "For the next month, I will be watching how Doctor Noah operates on patients and all." I hit the gravel twice. "Case dismissed. For today."
------------
I stop as I'm walking to my car as I see Noah yelling at Katie. He does have anger issues.
"Katie! I work all day and all night, and for what? To get sued? To pay 2,000 for a stupid patient and her mom? That judge clearly needs someone to put some sense into her. Couldn't she see that it was Cameron in the video?!" He snaps. He's talking about me. Near my car too.
"She doesn't know Cameron." Katie states.
"Okay, but a normal human would put two and two together and see we look alike. She's just stupid." That Cameron guy in the video is his brother. Oh. I walk to my car, and Noah stares at me. I ignore.
"Judge Jamie." He clears his throat. Katie looks up from her phone. I nod.
"Did..you..um.." He struggles to get the words out, but I know damn well what he wants to say.
"Hear that? Yeah, I did. Have a good day." I say before climbing into my car. I start the engine. I look at Noah from my peripheral vision. I reverse the car driving out of the parking lot. I need to put on a song to make me feel confident. I'm not gonna let a stupid doctors words get to me. I'm not stupid he is. I blast an Isabelle LaRosa song. But no, his face keeps flashing through my mind. I try to remind myself that he has anger issues and that's a huge ick. What if he's abusive? No snap out of it.
--------
I wake up in the morning. Normally, I would be getting ready for court, but not this time. This time, I'll be getting ready for the rude doctor, Noah. Let's think about the good things. I'm doing my job. It's a change from the courthouse. And on my way, I'll be able to blast some music, I mean, come on, who doesn't want to listen to music on the way somewhere?
Okay, when I said I'll blast music, I didn't mean the depressing kind like daddy issues. I reach for the radio and switch it. I listen to the beat and immediately know what the song is, and it's a new one, so that's a point for me. It's a serious hit, though. I mean, it's one of the best of the album, and it's the single of the album, so who doesn't like taste. I sing along to the lyrics, almost forgetting I'm on the way to meet Doctor Noah. The rude and arrogant one.
I park my car and step out to walk yo the receptionist. As soon as I walk, there's a nurse at the front desk. She looks nice. I approach the front desk, more like I approach her but that's besides the point.
"Hello." I begin. She looks up and stops writing
"Hey, how can I help?" she asks.
"Im here because of Doctor Noah's case." I explain.
"Right this way." She turns around the desk, and I begin following her down the hall. We reach a door that has a tag that says Doctor Noah. She knocks, and a few seconds later, a soft come in is heard.
