I notice him zoning out on his left hand right where the broken heart tattoo is. On his ring finger. I can't help but feel curious. How did that happen? Why? Millions of questions swarm through my mind. I take a sip of my water to clear my mind, but it's no help. We finish lunch. The plates empty. Well, his. Not mine. His gaze falls to the plate. Traveling from the plate to me.
"Jamie. Eat." He demands.
"I'm full." I say, avoiding his gaze.
"Alright then." He stands up. Im surprised that he let it go. But no, instead, he grabs the plate and walks over to the cashier. "Can we take this as takeaway?" I overhear him talk to the cashier. I sigh, knowing he won't back down. He takes the bag and opens the restaurant door for me. We walk to his car. He opens the passenger door for me. I settle in and watch him from the windshield as he turns to the driver's seat. He settles in and begins driving.
"I'm not gonna force you to eat." He begins,"but Jamie, you can't do this to yourself. You'll harm yourself and the baby." I still can't process that I'm pregnant. He drives to my apartment. The only sound is the hum of the engine and the rapid tapping of his finger against the steering wheel at the red light. I don't even know what I'm doing, but suddenly, I have this urge to eat. I grab the takeaway bag and pull out the pasta. I want to open it, but I'm hesitant to do so. What if I ruin his leather seats? What if I damage it? Millions of questions flood my mind.
"Eat." He says. I look at him.
"I don't wanna ruin the seats."
"I don't care about any seats. All I care about is your health and the baby's." He says without hesitation. He focuses on the road. We drive in silence for the rest of the car ride. Until suddenly, a car drifts in front of us. My life flashed between my eyes. But I feel an arm holding me back. I look down to see Noah's bicep against my chest. I breathe out. He retracts his hand away after a second.
"You okay?" He asks softly. I nod.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks."

I thought ending the case would make me not see Noah anymore. Him and his brown chestnut hair. His uneven beard he has sometimes. I just want to grab it and shave it for him. His blue eyes that pierce through my own. His strong biceps that I want to feel. I thought wrong because ever since I ended the case, I just kept seeing him over and over and over again. I don't even realize I have my hand over my bump that's slowly starting to show.___________
3 months ago.
I finally finish the final trial day of the case, feeling ecstatic to go home to Jake. I gather my things and practically run to my car. Rushing home. Yes, we've been together for a while, but I still feel giddy over seeing him even after years of dating and being engaged.
I drive to our shared apartment. I quickly turn the key and unlock the door. I place my things down, kicking off my shoes and walking towards our bedroom. I hear muffled noises, but I brush it off. It's just Jake on the phone.
I open the door and freeze once I see Jake. My fiance Jake on top of a blonde haired girl. Her leg on his hip over the fabric of the clothes. I feel my eyes water and tears dropping one by one. All we had is gone now. My heart is thrumping. Broken. I feel like I have scars in my heart. I feel my my heart drop. I was happy but now my heart is broken. Yet again. That's not the Jake I know. Can't be. I open my mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. I just turn around and walk away from the bedroom. The sickening sight. He was cheating on me. How long? How long has he been doing that? I run out of the apartment. Rushing towards another building. As I'm walking there I cross the road that's filled with moving cars. I hear a car dashing my way. Suddenly, I feel someone grab me and pull me away from the road and onto the sidewalk. My vision still blurry from the crying. He looks down at me. Blue eyes. Brown chestnut hair. He looks broken.
"Madam, you okay?" He asks. His voice soft but still, you can hear the concern.
"Yeah just..I'm good." I manage to say only that.
"Can I help you with anything?" He asks. I shake my head.
"No need." With that, we both part ways I walk to my original target place. The apartment building. I walk up the stairs of the building, reaching floor number 10 flat number 5. I knock, even knocking is making me weak. I smile as I see him open the door. I hug him. Andrew. My brother, that's always been there since day one. He doesn't say anything. he just wraps me in his arm and kisses my head.
"It's okay." He keeps whispering reassuring words in my ear. I end up sleeping in his house that night. Not bearing the thought of going back to that house. Where the stupid. Annoying. Bastard is.

I wake up from the rays of sunshine beaming through the curtains. I bury my head in the pillow, suddenly feeling my phone vibrating a thousand times.
"What?" I answer.
"Babe, where are you? You didn't come back. I was worried."
"Sure you were. Are you sure you were worried, or were you too busy on top of the other girl?" I ask.
"What- what do you mean?" He asks hesitantly.
"Cut the crap Jake. I saw." I snap "were over." The final words I say before hanging up.
