scarlett's pov:

tonight, lizzie and i went out to celebrate her 35th birthday, and it was quite the night. it's hard to believe she's 35 now—time really does fly. i teased her about how old she's getting, but she just laughed it off and ordered another round. we started the evening with just a couple of drinks, but things quickly escalated. before we knew it, we were completely drunk, laughing hysterically at the smallest things, like the bartender's mustache or a song we hadn't heard in years.

by the time the bar closed, we were both stumbling out onto the street, barely able to keep our balance. there was no way either of us was in any state to drive. just imagining what would happen if we tried made us laugh even harder, but deep down, we both knew it would have been a disaster. we'd probably crash within seconds, no doubt about it. so, instead, we decided to walk back to lizzie's place, giggling and holding onto each other for support, trying our best not to fall over with every step.

the streets were eerily quiet, and the cool night air felt refreshing on our flushed faces. we kept stopping to catch our breath from laughing, reminiscing about old times and making promises to never get this drunk again—which, of course, we knew was a lie. every time we bumped into each other or stumbled on the uneven pavement, it felt like an adventure, even if it was just a short walk to her place.

out of the corner of my eye, i suddenly noticed lizzie had veered off course and walked straight into a bush. for a second, i couldn't believe what i was seeing—there she was, tangled up in branches and leaves, like she'd forgotten how to navigate the world. i couldn't help but burst out laughing, barely able to stand as i watched her struggle to untangle herself.

"what an idiot," i thought, grinning from ear to ear. she stood there, looking half-dazed and completely unfazed, as if walking into shrubbery was a totally normal part of her night. i shook my head in disbelief. "what ever will i do with her?" i muttered to myself, still chuckling.

i stumbled over to help, though i wasn't exactly steady on my feet either. "you planning on making this bush your new home or what?" i teased as i pulled her free. she just laughed in response, brushing leaves off her jacket, and we continued our wobbly journey like nothing had happened.

i have to admit, though—she looked incredible tonight. lizzie had on this short, fiery red dress that hugged her figure perfectly, paired with matching red heels that made her legs seem even longer. every step she took in those heels was a balancing act, but she still managed to carry herself with a confidence that made it hard to look away. her hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail, simple yet striking, showing off her sharp features. she'd chosen to wear these bold hoop earrings that added just the right amount of flair to her look, swaying slightly every time she moved.
