Chapter 1 - A Tragedy

My name is Kira Mullins, I'm 18 years old and currently in the middle of my senior year of high school. Some things about myself are that I love manga's and anime, track, softball and astronomy. Currently I'm close to beating my school's track record and I have the title of having the highest batting average in our district for softball. I have college scouters constantly trying to recruit me for either their softball or track teams or even both. Cool, right? Anyways let's start the story on how this amazing life of mine, got cut short. 

It was a Saturday afternoon and I was just leaving the library. There's a huge math test coming up and the last thing I need is to fail and jeopardize my upcoming college sport career. 

"I'm not even in college yet and here I am stressing." I sighed as continued to walk back to my home. I needed to make a decision on what college I'm supposed to go to and what subject I want to major in. Not only that but what sport I want to take professionally, softball or track? I'm pulled from my thoughts when I get a whiff of something delicious. Looking over I see the local ramen shop, and as if right on que my stomach starts growling. 

"I guess dad wouldn't mind if I'm a little late." I say convincing myself to walk into the shop and grab a quick bite to eat. Walking into the restaurant, I'm immediately hit with the waft of flavors that make my mouth water. I head over to the counter and look over the menu overhead, seeing what seems to interest me.

"Hello, what can I get you?" I older lady asks me in a heavy Japanese accent. 

"Kon'nichiwa. Shōyu rāmen o ichi-tsu chūmon shite moraemasu ka." I answer, watching as the woman looks a but surprised at my knowledge of Japanese. (Translation: Hello. can i get one order of Shoyu ramen, please.)

A/N: I apologize to any Japanese speakers, I'm using google translate to translate. If any of the translations are wrong , apologies. 

"Sugu ni kimasu" she replies, before taking the order to the back. ( Translation: Coming right up.) I walk over to an empty table and pull out my demon slayer manga book one and start to just flip through it. I already read the entire series and I'm simply starting over since I like the plot of it. I read over the grueling training that Tanjiro had to do before he went to final selection. It had me thinking to my own training to get faster for track and softball since both require it.  Soon the lady brought out my dish and i began to enjoy the noodles as I put away the first book and brought out the third. I laughed to myself as I read over the part where Tanjiro meets Zenitsu begging to a girl to marry him. Sometimes I wish to be in the manga just to experience what its like to be in their world, fighting demons. Or to be able to make friendships or relationship with some of the characters, a lot of them were cute or hot anyways. But I know that's not possible especially since they're fictional. However, I wouldn't mind learning a breathing technique or coming up with one on my own. I would totally base it off astronomy since there's nothing as cool as space. Maybe that's what I can do for college astronomy, it wouldn't hurt to get a degree in it to hold as a placeholder. 

Anyways after looking on my phone to see that it was now turning 6, I finished my meal and returned my book to my bag. I paid for the food and hurried out of there, not before sending my dad a quick text that I was on my way home and had stopped for food. Once I made it home, I was greeted by my dad where his, 'kiss the cook' apron and his arms crossed. 

"How are you going to stop for food, when I told you I was cooking tonight." he huffed. I looked over to the kitchen to see he indeed made dinner. 

"I'm sorry dad, I completely forgot. But I was starving after all the studying I did and there was a ramen shop. I'll still eat dinner, you know I have a big appetite anyways." I reasoned as i gave a nervous chuckle while shifting on my feet. He glared at me for a few more seconds before he sighed.
