Chapter 45
The bubbling of the kettle bustled through the kitchen, Kaiya hummed as she shuffled around the kitchen. She felt discomfort the last few days but it was inevitable as she was just a week away from delivery...
Sakusa had left for work in the morning to attend his family company's quarterly board meeting. The last one of the fiscal year and he could finally take time off for his paternity leave. They both were super excited about the arrival of their goodluck charm, Sachi. The couple felt like they were on a high, everything had gone smoothly from the pregnancy, his tournament which his team had indeed won and he swore it was because of the ultrasound picture he carried of their sweet baby. She felt the tiny baby moving about inside her, making her smile and groan, "We're all feeling impatient honey. Jus t a few more days and you'll be in my arms" Kaiya muttered, rubbing her stomach while making tea for herself. As she stirred the tea, she went towards the balcony, looking at the dark clouds swirling above. A typhoon was scheduled to arrive late tonight but she wasn't worried. She was used to the occasional cyclones.
Her phone buzzed and she checked, seeing her dear Husband's picture flash on the screen, quickly picking it up
"Hi honey" She said
"Hey, how are you doing? All good?" He asked and she hummed, "I'm fine, Sachi is a bit restless, probably feeling cramped in there now. I just wish she'd stop kicking my guts... How's the meeting?" She asked and Sakusa frowned, looking at all the documents he had to read prior, cringing...
"Hasn't started yet... Has Aunty reached?" He asked
"Not yet, she's going to be late today and come after lunch but its alright. I'm just watching TV and relaxing on the sofa so don't worry! No need to call Okasan or Mother-in-law. I can manage till then!" She convinced him. Her husband was way too paranoid but he had been trying to respect his wife's wishes even if he disagreed or was reluctant. Aunty had already informed him that she would be late so Sakusa already knowing Kaiya, had planned in advance.
"Alright... I still think it'd be good to have someone around but... If you feel like you can manage, then its alright. I was just calling to tell you that Hanami and Atsumu are going to drop by in a while. He wants to return the toolkit he borrowed from me and I think Hanami wanted to give some presents she had forgotten at the baby shower..."
"Oh, thats nice! I'm so glad they got back together, seriously they both broke up over such a silly reason. I'll prepare some tea and snacks!" She chirped, finally happy that she got to do something without Aunty.
Sakusa shuffled through his papers, looking bored
"Don't exert yourself."
She scoffed, "Exert myself? Please... Theres nothing exerting about serving two cups of tea and snacks..."
He chuckled, "Well, you can exert Atsumu while he's here. Seeing as the typhoon's gonna hit tonight, get him to bring in Chewy so that I don't have to..."
She giggled, "You know what? I might as well. I'll get him to clean Chewy's hutch too... Seeing as I'm too big to bend down and do it... and you'll never..."
"That's my girl..." He cooed, "I'm going to bring some noodle soup for dinner, do you want onigiri too?" He asked and she beamed, "Yes please!"
He smiled, "Alright sweetheart, I've got you. I've got to go now, the meetings going to start... Not looking forward to the next few hours..."
"You've got this babe. I'll see you in the evening! Love you" She bid him farewell, disconnecting the call. She felt happy about having friends over, deciding to freshen herself up. She had been lounging around in her pyjamas for too long. It would be nice to dress up, especially when Sakusa would come back from work. He had been seeing her at her worst these days.
