Almost a year later...

Today is Jelly's first birthday.

She's crawling, taking small steps, she has a few teeth coming in, and she's a lot bigger now.

She's the cutest thing ever.

Nevaeh and I are literally obsessed with her and love being moms together.

We quietly walk into her nursery and Nevaeh gently shakes her awake before picking her up.

"Happy birthday, sweet girl." We say, kissing both of her cheeks.

"Mama, mama!" She grins.

She calls us both 'mama' since that's all she can really say right now.

"Hi, baby." I chuckle. "Did you sleep good?" I ask even though she doesn't know how to respond.

We go downstairs with her and sit her down in her high chair. Nevaeh makes her some small pancakes and cuts them up into little pieces for her.

Her birthday party is in a few hours and we spent last night setting up most of the stuff. The theme is Minnie Mouse stuff because Angelica loves her.

Whenever she comes on the screen, she says 'Min!'

It's adorable.

"Is that good, baby?" Nevaeh asks as she feeds her. "You're getting so good at using the fork by yourself. You're such a big girl."

Nevaeh looks up at me with tears in her eyes and I immediately get concerned. "Baby, what's wrong?"

"She's growing up so fast." Vae cries. "Before we know it, she'll be off to college, then getting married, an-"

"Baby, she's one! We're still gonna have plenty of time to watch her grow up." I assure her. "I'm on my period, I keep crying to stuff." She frowns.

I wipe her tears and kiss her head. "I know you're emotional, baby, but it's okay. You don't need to cry. I know that it's hard to watch her grow up though."

"I wish she could stay little forever." Nevaeh sighs. "I know, me too." I agree. "It kills me to know she won't be my little baby forever."

Vaeh starts crying harder and I bite my tongue.

I shouldn't have said that.

"Baby, baby, it's okay." I say, rubbing her back. "She's still little. We have plenty of time with her."

"I know." She nods sadly. "I just can't believe my baby is already getting so big."

"Me neither." I say. "I don't understand how it's already been a year since she was born. It's crazy to me."

"I know, right?" She agrees.

Once Jelly is done eating, Nevaeh and I clean her up and take her upstairs to get dressed. I pick out an outfit for her while Nevaeh goes on her phone.
