The Teacher's Assistant
.:Chapter 4: Stuff It Much?:.
"So are you going to the school fairnival?" Rose asks me as we walked down the hallway. It was just after second period and it was lunch time. We have forty minutes and because it's open campus we usually just hike downtown to grab some pizza from Pizza My Heart and smoothies from Jamba Juice, not driving because of Rosie's parents ethical teachings. "It's in a few weeks." How could I forget with all the fliers flooding school walls?
"What type of question is that? You know I always go to the fairnival."
Like I said, I always go to the fairnival; I usual help put it together even though the head of the Leadership Committee, Emily Stohrmwater, says I'm too controlling. As if she could talk.
And as for those of you who don't know what a fairnival is it's a mixture of a fair and carnival. It's something everybody looks forward too towards the end of the school year. It has all the booths and entertainment a fair would have and all the games and rides a carnival would have. It's the best of both worlds. This year I think they're trying to get Maroon5 and Rihanna to come for entertainment.
We walked outside and the warm air hit my skin, unlike last night when it looked like it was about to rain the sky was clear and cloudless. The perfect day to walk. It was also convenient because my teacher for my next class was nice enough to leave the door unlocked so students could put their bags in the room during lunch.
As we walked down the street I couldn't help but notice a group of familiar looking girls walking a few feet in front of us but still in hearing distance. One of which was Emily Storhmwater. I nudged Rosie in the arm to get her attention. Her head snapped in my direction and I nodded my head indicating for her to look ahead of us.
Emily Storhmwater knows anything and everything about everyone. And Mr. Andrews just so happened to be the topic of conversation for this evenings event.
"I've got the dish on the new English TA." She says proudly. See, Emily is the type of girl to get the dirt on everybody. She knows if you got dumped by your boyfriend five minutes after you do even if it was by text and you deleted it right after reading it. She knows if one of the teacher's is having an affair with their wives sister. She knows who went on a date with who last weekend. She knows everybody's weakness and high points. But one thing you can't count Emily to do is keep a secret. That's where the big bucks come in. There was once this girl, Julie Simmons, who not only stuffed her bra but wore more than one to make her boobs look bigger and Emily once caught her in the act. She offered Emily a lot of money to keep her secret when she called her out on it.
Emily took the money but the next day on Julie's locker was a banner shaped like a bra that said 'stuff it much?' in big black font. Julie ended up dropping out of school and being home schooled. But what people don't know is that Emily liked to pretend she was 'the good catholic girl' everybody loved when in actuality she is the whore everybody hates. Me, Rosie and the rest of her groupie friends are the only ones that know that so in exchange for her keeping her mouth shut when she get's dirt on us we keep our mouths shut about her.
"As you guys know he came from the big city," I didn't know that, "but did you know he changed his name before he moved here?"
"Why would he do that?" One of them asked.
"I heard the nurse say it was because he was running away from a girlfriend." She giggled and the other girls chimed in. A girlfriend?
"Oh and did you know that his apartment burned down while he was in it? And people seem to think his psycho ex did that too just to get revenge on him for breaking up with her."
