"I can't believe you did that to me!"

Aria sighed, rubbing her temples, "I told you, Cole, it was a rushed decision!"

Aria and Cole are sitting on a bench in their local park. The sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled patterns on the ground. Cole has a friendly, curious look, while Aria fidgets slightly, clearly trying to find the right words.

"You disappeared, Aria! Out of thin air! We were set to spend your birthday together, but you never showed up! And then I don't see you for almost a year!"

"It's a long story, Cole, but in short, I'm going to the boarding school my brother went- er, goes to"

"Which is where... ?" "Somewhere in Scotland!"

Aria pinched the bridge of her nose, her headache worsening by the minute; she had a dull headache for the past few hours and it showed no sign of going away any time soon. She had taken 2 potions for curing headaches and still, it wouldn't leave her.

"But you're back, right? you'll be going to school with me like normal? And what about our summer camp-"

"About that-"

Cole frowned, "You're going to stay there permanently? I thought you didn't like the idea of boarding school"

'That's because the other boarding schools aren't Hogwarts! Hogwarts is . . . special', the blonde thought.

She nodded, "I'm fitting in . . . plus I'm not allowed to er, go anywhere else"

The boy frowned more, "Is it your parents? I never even see them around- but if you need help convincing them, You know I'm the backbone of our school's debating club!"

"It's not my parents, it's just. . . It's hard to explain; and my head feels like it'll split open so please, bear with me, I'll tell you some other day-"

"But I want answers! and I want them quickly" The boy huffed and got up, turning to leave. He suddenly halted and turned to face her, "You didn't answer me by the way; Will you at least spend the summer here?"

Aria remembered the Quidditch World Cup that was approaching in a few days. She pursed her lips, feeling guilt deposit at the pit of her stomach.

The boy seemed to understand what she would say and sulked even more. Without another word, he turned and walked away.

Aria slumped in dismay, She hated to see her friendship with Cole falter like this. It was much easier when she was a squib - or, when she thought she was a squib.
