As Lumine and Paimon watched Ajax turn to face them, their hearts sank. They knew that he was under the Abyss Herald's control, that he was no longer the man they loved.
"Lumine," Ajax said, his voice a chilling whisper. "I challenge you to a fight."
Lumine's heart pounded in her chest. She knew that she had to fight Ajax, to free him from the Abyss Herald's clutches. But she also knew that she could not harm him.
"I won't fight you, Ajax," she said, her voice filled with despair. "I won't justify your hatred."
Ajax sneered. "You think you can save me?" he said. "You think you can break free from the Abyss Herald's control?"
Lumine nodded, her eyes filled with determination. "I will," she replied. "I won't give up on you."
Ajax laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the chamber. "You're a fool," he said. "You're wasting your time."
With a flick of his wrist, Ajax summoned a wave of darkness that surged towards Lumine and Paimon. They raised their weapons, their eyes filled with fear and determination.
The battle that followed was a blur of light and darkness, a clash of wills and wills. Lumine and Paimon fought with all their might, their blades clashing against Ajax's dark energy.
But Ajax was too powerful, too fast. He dodged their attacks with ease, his movements a blur of darkness. With a flick of his wrist, he sent Lumine and Paimon flying, their bodies crashing into the wall.
Lumine and Paimon struggled to get back to their feet, their bodies aching. They knew that they were no match for Ajax in this state.
"We can't beat him," Paimon said, her voice filled with despair.
Lumine shook her head. "We have to," she replied. "We can't give up on him."
With renewed determination, Lumine and Paimon charged at Ajax, their weapons raised. But Ajax was too quick, too powerful. He easily disarmed them, their weapons clattering to the ground.
Lumine and Paimon stood there, helpless, as Ajax approached them. He raised his hand, his fingers poised to strike.
Just as he was about to deliver the final blow, Lumine stepped forward, her eyes filled with a determined glint. "Stop," she said, her voice firm. "I won't fight you."
Ajax paused, his eyes filled with confusion. "What?" he said.
"I won't fight you," Lumine repeated. "I won't justify your hatred. I believe in you, Ajax. I believe that you can break free from the Abyss Herald's control."
Ajax's eyes softened, a flicker of recognition passing over his face. He remembered the love he had shared with Lumine, the bond they had forged.
He lowered his hand, his anger fading. He looked at Lumine, his eyes filled with a mixture of shame and hope.
"You're right," he said, his voice barely a whisper. "I'm sorry."
Lumine smiled, her eyes filled with relief. "It's okay," she replied. "We can start over."
Ajax nodded, his eyes filled with a newfound determination. He knew that he had to break free from the Abyss Herald's control, that he had to find a way to return to his true self.
And so, Lumine and Ajax stood there, their eyes locked in a silent understanding. They knew that the road ahead would be long and difficult, but they were determined to face it together.
For love could conquer all, even the darkest of forces.
As Lumine and Paimon watched Ajax, their hearts filled with hope. They knew that he was beginning to break free from the Abyss Herald's control, that he was reclaiming his humanity.
