Dear Ced,
I came across this book in the Room of Requirement a few days ago. At first, I thought it would be useful for jotting down timetables or reminders, but the moment I closed it, everything I'd written disappeared. It reminded me of Tom Riddle's diary from a few years back—you know, the one where the words would vanish, but at least that diary had the decency to write back. This one? Not so much.
I took it to Professor Snape to have it looked at. I thought about going to Dumbledore, but he's been preoccupied with Umbridge breathing down his neck. Snape reassured me it's not dark magic and perfectly safe to use, though I'm still curious as to where the words go once they disappear.
In the end, I suppose it doesn't really matter. What matters is that I can write to you here, even if you'll never reply.
