Dear Ced,
Umbridge, the new DADA professor and High Inquisitor from the Ministry, has issued another decree—this one stating that all student organizations, societies, teams, groups, and clubs are to be disbanded. It's utterly ridiculous. Lately, she's been harassing me, trying to get me to work for her. I can't help but wonder if she knows something. I hope not. Either way, I'd rather wrestle a ferret than work for her. Percy's already more than enough for our family's power-hungry ambitions.
On top of that, Hogwarts feels so different now. The usual buzz and laughter are gone, replaced by an oppressive silence that hangs over everything. It's like the school itself is holding its breath, waiting for the next decree or punishment. Even the common room is subdued, and it's hard to find any solace.
I've been spending a lot of time in my room, trying to keep up with my studies for the NEWTs. It's a bit of a struggle, with everything going on. There's a bit of a distraction, though. I've been invited to a secret meeting with some others. It was a bit overwhelming, but it seems like they're trying to do something about the state of things here. I'm not sure what to make of it all yet.
The weight of everything is just getting heavier. I miss our talks and the way you always seemed to know how to make things seem less bleak. I find myself clinging to those memories more and more, trying to keep the darkness at bay. There's a part of me that wishes I could talk to you about all this, get your perspective. It's hard not having you here, especially with everything feeling so strange
I suppose that's all for now. I'll write again soon. I hope wherever you are, it's a little less complicated than here.
