As I set my feet on the ground after stepping out of the Dewfalls' carriage, I still feel pain throughout my body. I rely on two crutches made by Daeron, which allow me to walk, albeit with difficulty.

Looking up at the city, I am amazed by its beauty. Everything seems to radiate light, with the white of the structures fitting perfectly, like a pair of gloves, blending with the vibrant green of the vegetation and the various colors of the most stunning flowers and plants I've ever seen.

Before leaving the carriage, Daeron gave me a hooded cloak so I could enter the city without drawing attention as a human. I still don't fully understand why being human is a problem here. What bothers the elves so much?

During the journey, I asked many questions to Daeron's family and learned quite a bit about the elves. However, whenever I asked about the other races and their political relations, Daeron would respond with, "Better worry about that later, kid." Now, I fear that my presence in the elven realm might cause problems, or worse, bring complications to the Dewfalls.

"Halt, identify yourselves," ordered the guard with a stern and cautious tone. Out of reflex, due to the customs of the land I come from, I had already analyzed the entire guard at the city entrance. Their armor gleamed in the sun, and the strategic positioning of the soldiers indicated they were well-trained and ready for any situation.

I see that the elves are extremely concerned with their security...

...The entrance gate is guarded by four elven soldiers, all in shining armor and wielding spears...

...To my left, I can see two more soldiers keeping watch from a distance, armed with bows and arrows...

...The same on the right side...

...I still don't know why, but the elves seem to be preparing for something, or perhaps someone.

"How do you do, guard? I am Daeron Dewfall!" He introduces himself, pulling out and showing a gold pendant with the emblem of a dragonfly. "I am the royal healer of your Majesty, and this is my family."

Family?

Strange, for a moment I felt a pang in my chest upon hearing that word...

...It's as if...

...I'm missing my own family.

The guards step away from the gate, allowing us to pass. However, I couldn't help but notice that one of the guards kept staring at me. Does he suspect I'm a human under the hood?

... Anyway, I am now inside the great city of Elarion, the city of the Elves.

"Welcome, Martin!" Thalion says, happily running back to his home. "You're going to love our house..." I nod and close my eyes, giving an encouraging smile in response to the boy.

We finally arrive at Daeron's house. It is a large residence with two floors, and its walls are adorned with refined plaster sculptures. There is a spacious yard next to the house.

The elf knocks twice on the door, which soon opens in response.

"Welcome back!" At the door stands an elven woman with light brown hair, wearing a beautiful dress. She asks, "Did you children behave well on the trip?"

Aelar points at his brother with a look of disdain and says, "I never want to travel with Thalion again, Mom." Thalion, in turn, moves toward his brother, clearly intending to punish him for the comment.

**STOP IT**

The woman gives both children a light smack on the head as a gesture of reprimand and enters the house, holding both boys by their pointed ears.
