tom was in the library studying for his potions test tomorrow. he was talking with his brother, mattheo, and his best friend, lorenzo, about the test when he noticed his other friend, annie, with a girl. he looked at the girl, admiring her and unable to look away. he was mesmerized.
"hey, guys!" annie greeted them with a smile, sitting down next to mattheo while the girl took a seat next to tom. "this is y/n, my new bestie, so you're going to see her around a lot!"
tom's heart raced at the thought of her being around more often. he smiled at her, and she smiled back, tucking her hair behind her ears. that simple gesture made tom like her even more; he thought she was so cute.
y/n found tom cute too, and she couldn't stop glancing at him either.
"there's a slytherin party tonight. are you down to go, y/n?" lorenzo asked.
y/n snapped out of her thoughts and looked at lorenzo. "oh, yeah, i'm so down."
tom was excited about her being there, but at the same time, he didn't like the idea of other guys trying to get with her.
"okay, well, i gotta go," lorenzo said as mattheo stood up as well.
"yeah, me too. y/n, you wanna come?" annie asked.
tom watched her as she glanced at him, then back at annie.
"i'll stay," she replied.
tom was relieved.
"okay! well, enjoy yourselves. i'll see you later in our dorm," annie waved, walking out with lorenzo and mattheo.
tom smiled at y/n. "i'm tom, tom riddle."
"y/n y/l/n," she smiled back.
"so, you just started today? never seen you around," he asked.
"yes! i am new, but i was supposed to start yesterday. they needed to do the sorting hat, which—no surprise—slytherin," she said.
"that's cool. you're cute," tom smirked.
"i can definitely say the same to you," y/n giggled, resting her chin on her hand.
"well, i'm glad the feelings are mutual, then." tom leaned back. "so, are you a party type of girl?"
"uhm, i'd probably say so. this isn't my first party. i think one time i went to a party, and it was crazy," y/n laughed, and tom smiled at her.
"well, would you wanna be around me at the party?" he asked.
"like you want me to stay with you throughout the whole party?" she questioned.
"yes, i don't want anyone trying anything with you. they fuck around and find out," tom said.
y/n's heart was racing; she liked how protective he was, and they weren't even dating.
"okay, pick me up at my dorm," she smiled, and he nodded in approval.
she stood up, offering her hand. "come on, let's go eat."
he nodded, chuckling before grabbing her hand and getting up. he gathered his stuff off the table, and then the two of them left the library together with big smiles on their faces.
