"you're actually about to get on my nerves, get out of my face!" y/n shouts, her voice echoing in the tense room.

"hey, watch your fucking tone," tom snaps, pointing at her with a look that only deepens her anger.

"stop pissing me off!" she yells, frustration spilling over as she slams his door with a loud bang. without waiting for a response, she storms downstairs, her fists clenched, heart pounding. everything inside her feels like it's boiling over, her frustration not just with tom, but the entire day. she walks to the table in the common room, her thoughts still spiraling.

the argument with tom had started small—he had been cold and distant all day, brushing her off whenever she tried to talk. y/n just wanted to know what was going on, why he was acting like that, but he'd been stubborn, unwilling to listen. his refusal to communicate only worsened her mood, and now here she was, fuming.

"jesus christ," y/n mutters under her breath as she slumps into a chair, pulling out her homework in an attempt to distract herself. she cracks open a book, trying to focus on the words, but they blur together. her anger lingers, gnawing at the edges of her mind, making it impossible to concentrate. she's only starting to get absorbed when a loud slam makes her jump.

looking up, she sees rebecca standing there, her arms crossed and a smirk plastered on her face. rebecca, the last person y/n wanted to deal with right now. their relationship had always been strained—more enemies than anything else, and every encounter with her was like nails on a chalkboard.

"what?" y/n asks, pinching the bridge of her nose, already exhausted.

"all the tables are occupied," rebecca says with a smug grin, her eyes flicking to y/n's empty table. "and since you're lonely, like always, we want this one."

y/n narrows her eyes. "uh, fuck no. i'm studying. go to the great hall; there's literally way more space."

rebecca's smile only widens. "we like this table," she says, her tone dripping with false sweetness. "and we want this table specifically."

y/n lets out a sarcastic laugh, leaning back in her chair. "oh yeah, sure, i can move."

rebecca's eyes light up in surprise. "really?"

"fuck no, who do you think i am?" y/n chuckles, shaking her head and turning back to her book.

before she can even blink, rebecca lunges forward and shoves y/n off her chair. she hits the floor hard, the impact sending a jolt of pain through her side. laughter erupts from rebecca and her group of minions, their voices shrill and mocking. the rest of the room falls into a stunned silence, eyes wide, watching the scene unfold.

"that's what you get, bitch," rebecca sneers, her laughter filling the room.

y/n's vision blurs with fury as she scrambles to her feet. without hesitation, she shoves rebecca back, sending her stumbling. she doesn't stop there. y/n pushes her again, this time harder, making rebecca fall back onto her butt with a thud.

the next few seconds blur together. y/n kicks, punches—every ounce of pent-up anger pouring out. rebecca fights back, but y/n is relentless. she grabs rebecca by the collar and slams her against the wall.

"you picked the wrong person today," y/n growls, her voice low and dangerous. with a final shove, she throws rebecca to the floor again and lands one last punch, her knuckles stinging with the force.

just as she's about to hit rebecca again, strong hands pull her back. y/n whips around, fists still clenched, and finds herself face to face with theo.

"y/n, what the fuck?" theo asks, his voice somewhere between shocked and concerned. his grip on her arms is firm, holding her back before she can do more damage.

before y/n can respond, tom comes rushing down the stairs, his face filled with alarm as he takes in the scene—the whispers from the students, rebecca still on the floor, and y/n standing there, disheveled and furious.

"y/n, what happened?" tom asks, his voice steady, but his eyes flicking between her and rebecca, trying to piece together the situation.

"we fought, but she started it!" y/n shouts, her voice still thick with anger. she wipes a hand across her lip, wincing as she feels the blood trickling from the cut. rebecca is still on the floor, groaning, trying to catch her breath.

tom's face softens as he notices the injuries on y/n—her bleeding lip, the bruises beginning to form on her face. "baby, look at your face. you're bleeding. please, let me help you," he says, reaching for her gently.

theo releases his hold, and tom guides y/n back to his dorm, his hand resting on her shoulder as he leads her away from the curious eyes of the common room. once inside, she sits on his bed, touching her lip gingerly, feeling the dried blood and the heat still radiating from her cheeks.

"y/n, what's gotten into you?" tom asks quietly as he grabs a damp cloth and starts cleaning her lip, his touch soft and careful.

"nothing," y/n mumbles, her voice barely audible as she avoids his gaze, her anger slowly ebbing away but leaving exhaustion in its wake.

"hey, stop with the attitude," he scolds lightly, his voice gentle but firm. he lifts her chin, forcing her to look at him. "what's going on?"

she sighs, her shoulders slumping. "okay, sorry."

tom's expression softens further as he cups her face, his thumb brushing lightly over her cheek. "i'm sorry for earlier," he says, his voice low, full of regret. "i didn't mean to make you mad."

"it's okay," y/n replies quietly, the fight draining out of her. "i'm sorry for yelling at you."

"don't," tom says, shaking his head. "i started it." he leans in, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek, then moves to her lips, careful not to hurt her. the warmth of his touch makes her relax, the tension in her body melting away as she leans into him.

"i love you," she whispers, her voice muffled as she buries her head in his chest, the familiar scent of him calming her.

"i love you too, pretty girl," tom murmurs, wrapping his arms around her, rubbing slow circles on her back. the day's chaos fades away as they sit there together, the comfort of each other's presence making everything else seem insignificant.
