"reggie," y/n calls softly, her voice almost breaking through the tension in the room.

lately, regulus has been distant, colder, like there's a storm raging inside him, and it's spilling into every interaction they have. his once gentle demeanor feels more like a harsh, cutting wind.

"regulus," she calls again, a little louder this time, hoping to reach him through whatever wall he's built around himself.

he sighs sharply, turning to face her with exasperation etched across his features. "what?" he snaps, his voice full of frustration and anger he can't seem to hold back.

y/n's brows furrow, hurt flashing in her eyes. "what the hell is your problem?" she asks, her voice cracking just a bit. "you've been so rude to me, and i don't understand why. what did i do?"

"can you just leave me alone?" regulus bites out, his tone dripping with irritation.

"leave you alone? why?" she demands, confusion and hurt flooding her expression. "what did i do? i need to know. is it because of your friends?" she presses, desperate to understand where all this animosity is coming from.

something inside regulus snaps. in a sudden, uncontrollable burst of anger, he lashes out, knocking over her vanity. the sound of shattering glass fills the room as makeup containers spill and crash to the floor, the mirror splintering into jagged shards. y/n gasps, stumbling back in shock, her eyes welling up with tears as she takes in the devastation. her sobs come in quiet, broken waves as he storms out, slamming the door so hard it shakes the walls.

she collapses onto her bed, burying her face in her hands, her sobs growing louder. the vanity had cost a fortune, a gift she saved for, cherished. now, it lay in pieces, much like her heart. the shards of broken glass glittered in the moonlight, mocking her, and all that expensive makeup, now ruined, felt like yet another loss.

regulus's voice, the way he'd yelled at her, keeps echoing in her head. this isn't the boy she fell for. this isn't the regulus who once held her and whispered sweet promises. her tears don't stop, soaking her pillow, her chest aching.

after a while, her sobs become quieter, and she wipes her tear-streaked face. she knows she can't leave the mess. taking a deep breath, she ties her hair up, gathering what little strength she has left, and fetches a trash bag. slowly, she throws away all the damaged makeup, the money she had spent on those products vanishing like sand through her fingers. she sweeps up the shards of glass, her hands trembling, making sure every last piece is gone. with care, she drags the broken vanity to the side, placing it near her desk, her heart heavy with the loss.

finally, after what feels like an eternity, the room is clean again, though emptier somehow. she's placing her few undamaged items back in order when there's a knock at her door, gentle yet hesitant.

she pauses, her heart sinking. 'who could it be at this hour?' she wonders, wiping her hands on her pajama pants.

"who is it?" she calls out, her voice still raw from crying.

"reggie," comes his voice, softer now, regret lacing his tone.

she sighs, a weary, broken sound. seeing him is the last thing she wants, but she knows she can't avoid him forever. "come in," she says quietly.

the door creaks open, and regulus steps inside. he's in his pajamas, his hair a mess, and there's something in his eyes—an apology, a regret so deep it almost drowns him. y/n keeps her gaze fixed on her desk, methodically arranging her salvaged makeup.

"hi," he murmurs, dragging a chair over and sitting next to her. "can we talk?"

she doesn't look at him. "what's there to talk about?" she asks, her voice dull, drained of emotion.

"i messed up," he admits, running a hand through his hair. "i'm sorry. my mom's been pressuring me so much about my grades, and i..i took it out on you. i shouldn't have. you didn't deserve any of that." he pauses, his voice breaking. "i'm so sorry for knocking over your vanity and breaking your things. i promise i'll replace it all. first thing tomorrow."

her silence is deafening, and it crushes him.

"y/n, please," he begs, his voice raw with regret. he glances at the trash bag, catching sight of the broken makeup. his heart sinks. "oh god... is that everything i ruined?"

she nods, the hurt still vivid in her eyes.

"fuck," he breathes out, guilt washing over him. "i'm so, so sorry, baby. i'll replace it all, every bit of it. i don't care how much it costs. please, let me make it right." he reaches out, placing his hands gently on her lap, and she finally looks at him, her eyes red and puffy.

she takes a moment, then speaks, her voice quiet. "under one condition."

"anything," he replies desperately, clinging to the hope of making things better.

"a new vanity, new makeup," she says, her voice gaining a touch of strength, "and a shopping spree."

he smiles, relief flooding his face. "not a problem, my love."

a small, genuine smile tugs at her lips as he stands, pulling her into his arms. he holds her tightly, his embrace warm and full of sincerity.

"i'm so sorry, baby," he whispers into her hair, his own eyes wet with unshed tears.

"it's okay," she says softly, her voice muffled against his chest. "just..talk to me next time, okay?"

"i will," he promises, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "i love you."

"i love you too," she murmurs, finally letting herself relax in his arms.
