You wake up before dawn, every muscle in your body protesting as you drag yourself out of bed.

Yet, you feel a strange thrill—an inexplicable excitement that keeps you from turning over and sinking back into your warm cocoon.

Today is no different.

Today, you get to see him. Pau Cubarsí. The boy who has been the focal point of your waking thoughts for months now.

You shuffle into the kitchen, brewing a cup of coffee as you mentally rehearse the plan you’ve perfected over the past few weeks.

The plan that involves waking up before sunrise, dressing in your school uniform with just the right amount of nonchalance, and waiting at the bus stop with a casual air, all just to catch a fleeting glimpse of Pau as he walks by.

The bus ride seems to stretch on forever. Every minute that passes feels like an eternity, each stop another opportunity for your excitement to boil over.

Finally, you reach your school. As you step off the bus, you adjust your backpack, trying to appear as though you’re not waiting for something—or someone.

You position yourself perfectly on the path where Pau walks to school. Your heart races as you hear footsteps approaching, and then, there he is.

Pau Cubarsí, walking with his usual confident stride. You manage a casual wave as you pass by, but inside, your heart leaps and your cheeks flush with color.

The day drags on with every class seeming longer than the last. The only highlight is the fleeting moments between periods when you get to see Pau in the hallways or catch a glimpse of him at his locker.

You’ve perfected the art of nonchalant glances and subtle stares, but the reality is that every time you see him, your heart skips a beat.

During lunch, you find yourself concocting another plan to get closer to him. You’ve convinced your best friend, who has been your partner in crime through this whole ordeal, to join you on your quest.

You both head to the canteen, but you’re not really interested in the food; it’s the chance to spot Pau that drives you. You maneuver through the crowd, dragging your friend along with you, pretending to be engrossed in the cafeteria’s offerings.

Your eyes scan the room, hoping to catch sight of him amidst the sea of students.

You finally spot him. He’s sitting at a table with a few friends, laughing about something that seems genuinely amusing. Your heart sinks a little because you know you’re too shy to approach him directly.

Instead, you find a spot that gives you a clear view of him and your best friend sets up the picnic-like spread on the table, even though you’re only half aware of it. You steal glances as you pretend to be interested in your meal.

The afternoon is spent walking around the campus, your best friend in tow. You drag her through the outdoor spaces, through the garden paths, and past the sports fields—all the while scanning the crowds for Pau.

You’re determined to get a glimpse of him outside of the classroom, hoping that maybe this time, you’ll catch him alone.

Finally, just when you’re about to give up, you spot him near the library. He’s alone, engrossed in a book. You and your best friend pause behind a nearby pillar, trying to devise a plan to get closer.

But before you can make a move, Pau looks up, catching sight of you. For a split second, your breath catches in your throat, and then, much to your surprise, he stands up and starts walking towards you.

Hey,” he says with a warm smile, as if he’s been expecting you.

Your best friend nudges you, whispering with wide eyes, “This is it!

Pau approaches with a confident stride.

I’ve noticed you around a lot lately. Do you want to grab a coffee sometime? I’ve been hoping for an excuse to talk to you.

Your heart races as you nod, feeling a mixture of shock and elation. “Yes, I’d like that.

As Pau walks away with a friendly wave, you realize that all those early mornings, those strategic trips to the canteen, and those covert campus strolls have led to this moment. Your crush, once just a distant dream, is now a reality.

And as you look at your best friend, who’s grinning from ear to ear, you can’t help but feel that the adventure is just beginning.
