As we were walking, Martinus' arm lingered for a moment longer before he casually let it fall away. I immediately missed the warmth, but I kept my expression neutral. The three of us made our way to the hotel restaurant, sitting into a cozy corner.
The conversation was easy at first- light talk about upcoming competition and pre-parties. As Marcus was telling stories, I found myself stealing glances at Martinus, my thoughts drifting back to the unexpected moment in the hallway.
As we continued to talk, Marcus turned to me with a curious look. "So, how's Malmö treating you so far? Have you had a chance to explore much?"- He asked. "Honestly, I haven't had time to explore at all. I've been so caught up in work that I haven't really seen outside of the hotel and the venue. I've never been here as well before..."- I hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Martinus' eyes widened. "Wait, you've been here for this long and haven't explored Malmö at all?"- he asked. "Guess so."- I chuckled.
"That's unacceptable. You can't leave for the pre-party before exploring Malmö. Tomorrow's a day off since we're all leaving for the pre-party late at night, what if me and Marcus take you out in the city?"- Martinus added.
I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement bubble up. "I'd love that!"- I agreed.
Marcus, however, smirked and said: "I'd love to, but I promised Nora I'd meet her tomorrow since she's in town from work as well."- He winked at Martinus. Something in his tone made me wonder if Marcus was saying it on purpose. I brushed the thought away.
"That's fine. We can go another time."- I offered, not wanting to seem like a burden. "No,no, you two go! Enjoy the day. Trust me, you'll have fun. Martinus knows all the good spots."- He gave a playful grin, clearly in on some private joke.
"Absolutely! I can show you amazing things around the town."- Martinus agreed. I opened my mouth to protest, but it was no use. "Really, you don't have to. I can't do it alone-"
"Nope, no arguing. We're doing it tomorrow!"- Martinus said firmly. I just laughed and nodded.
As dinner continued, the conversation shifted, but my thoughts kept returning to tomorrow. The idea of spending the day with Martinus, exploring a new place felt exciting in a way I hadn't expected. The tension from earlier was slowly being replaced by something lighter, something that made my heart race for a completely different reason.
When the check came, I immediately reached for my purse. "Let me get this. You guys have done enough."- I said. "No way. You're our guest."- Martinus waved me off. "Yeah, absolutely not. You're our guest. We invited you."- Marcus chimed in, shaking his head.
"But-" - I frowned, trying to insist. Martinus raised an eyebrow, cutting me off with a grin. "You can buy coffee for us tomorrow, but tonight, dinner's on me".
"Fine, coffee on me tomorrow, then."- I smiled in defeat, knowing fighting them was no use.
As we left the restaurant, walking back through the softly lit hotel lobby, Martinus casually draped his arm around my shoulder again. This time, I didn't overthink it- I just let myself enjoy the simple gesture. I even let myself relax my head against his arm for a brief moment. The tension from earlier had melted away, replaced by a warm sense of ease. Tomorrow promised more moments like this, and for the first time in a while, I felt excited for what was more to come.
After walking together for a while, we reached my hotel room, which was a few room across theirs. I said goodbye to both of them and walked inside.
I decided to call Roni since I haven't really talked to her for a while. I told her everything that has been happening recently. When I tell you, words can't even describe her emotions.
"Girl you're going on a date with THE Martinus Gunnarsen!!! Are you kidding me???"- She basically was jumping up and down on her bed while screaming.
"Come on Roni, it's not like that! Don't make me even more delusional than I already am!"- I replied.
After a while, we hung up and I took a quick shower. When I laid back down in my bed to sleep, I checked my phone and saw a message from Martinus.
Martinus- Hey Mathilda! I'll pick you up around 1pm tomorrow so we'll have enough time to explore. Sounds good with you?
Me- Absolutely! Thank you so much again, can't wait to see the city.
Martinus- No worries, I love to do that with you.
Martinus- Also, can you send me the picture you, me and Marcus took while shooting your vlog the other day?I smiled a bit. He was taking about a selfie where I'm standing in the middle of them and Martinus has his arm around me visibly.
Me- of course.
