The sun hadn't even risen when I zipped my suitcase shut. I'd triple-checked everything I packed but couldn't shake the feeling I was forgetting something. Across the room, Martinus was pacing like he always did before trips, running a hand through his messy hair and muttering under his breath."You've done this a hundred times before."- I teased, slipping my shirt over my shoulders. "You'd think you'd be a pro by now."
He looked up, smirking as he slung his bag over his shoulder. "Yeah, but this time's different." His smile softened as he closed the space between us. "You're coming with me."
My stomach flipped at the way his eyes lingered on mine. I tapped his chest playfully, trying to keep the moment light. "You better not be this sentimental the whole tour."
He laughed, pulling me into a quick hug before pushing me toward the door.
The drive to the airport was quiet but comfortable. We both had too much on our minds to talk much. Martinus with his setlists, schedules and sound checks. Me with the realization that I was about to experience something completely new alongside the people I loved the most.
By the time we reached the terminal, the familiar buzz of airport energy surrounded us. Martinus nudged me with his elbow. "Ready?"
"As I'll ever be."- I said, grinning as I grabbed my suitcase handle.
The flight passed by fast and before we knew it, we were already in Copenhagen. We barely had time to grab coffee before Marcus spotted us near the gate. "Finally!" he called, waving dramatically. "Thought you two got lost."
"Or distracted."- Nora added, appearing behind him with a knowing smirk.
"Nice to see you too."- I shot back, hugging her tightly.
The four of us laughed as we made our way toward the exit. The city buzzed with life, the kind that made your chest feel light and full all at once. I was trailing behind the group as Marcus led us toward the van waiting outside.
The boys were already checking schedules and mumbling about rehearsal times as Nora looped her arm through mine. "Are you excited?" she asked, her voice warm.
I nodded. "I mean, I've seen him perform so many times, but this feels... different."
"It is different." - she said, squeezing my arm.
She wasn't wrong. As soon as we reached the venue, Marcus and Martinus disappeared for soundcheck and rehearsal, leaving us with strict instructions: "Go explore, don't just sit here. We'll see you later."
So me and Nora set off. We wandered through the streets, stopping for pastries at a little bakery and taking pictures by the colorful buildings along the canal.
"You think they're going to regret forcing us to go out?" Nora joked, holding up her phone to snap another picture of me pretending to fall into the water.
"Absolutely."- I said, laughing. "They'll probably call us in twenty minutes asking where we are."
When we returned to the venue later that evening, the boys were exactly where they said they'd be: backstage, laughing with the crew and buzzing with pre-show energy.
The boys were slipping into their stage outfits while Nora and I were trying to keep ourselves busy, pretending we weren't just counting down the seconds until the show started.
Martinus emerged from his dressing area, adjusting the cuffs of his jacket. His eyes instantly found mine, a smile tugging at his lips as he crossed the room towards me.
"Hey."- he said, his voice low so it didn't carry over the background noise of chatter and equipment. "How did the sightseeing go? Did you and Nora behave?"
