Welcome everyone to my first every Spencer Reid fanfic!! I'm so excited for this, as it's also my first Grey's fic. I just want to clarify a few things first! This fic pics up shortly after the shooting that happens in Grey's, but our OC has already moved to Washington at this point. This fic will include the characters from Grey's but it will be mostly focused on Ivy and Spencer's relationship, some of the doctors will make appearances though! This doesn't happen anywhere particularly in the Criminal Minds timeline, but it has the team from season 3 onwards.
Also, this will NOT be a slow burn. I'm cheesy as fuck and want love at first sight to be a thing. LAST THING, I WANT IT TO BE VERY CLEAR THAT I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BEING A DOCTOR AND AM MAKING ALL THE MEDICAL STUFF UP. I also have NO idea about American geography and the healthcare system there, so if things are inaccurate I am very sorry but please be gracious and ignore it (or feel free to let me know of a mistake in the comments or on my instagram blueberrymuffin0222).
Thank you to @Anemicroom for the awesome song recommendations! I went down a bit of a Spencer Reid music rabbit hole, and I really like the song About You by The 1975 for the vibes of this fic. I encourage you to take a listen if you'd like! And with that, here's Chapter One.
The bar was too loud.
It shouldn't be, really. It was one of those nice, classy places where the wood was a deep, rich oak, the chairs were all plush and a nice deep green leather or velvet and there was some classic jazz music playing softly over the speakers. It was a place where the bartenders were wearing sharp white button downs and black vests, and Ivy felt hilariously underdressed sitting alone at the bar.
It should have been a good place to relax after a hard day of work, glass of whiskey in hand. If it weren't for the group sitting at the hightop to her back.
Ivy couldn't really blame them, though. Clearly they had just come from work like her, and based on the fact that the drinks were all being bought by the richly dressed older man at the head of the table, he was probably the one who picked this place, and the younger ones were just dragged along.
It wasn't even that Ivy disliked the kind of joints that would fit the loud, bubbly environment the table was giving off. If she was being honest, she kind of missed Joe's. But tonight she had been looking for a nice, relatively quiet place to have a drink and relax.
It was only really three of them that were raising the volume a bit too much to be socially acceptable. One very large, muscular man, handsome but not really Ivy's type, and a very brightly dressed woman were the main instigators, egged on by yet another very beautiful woman with a sheet of dark hair.
The rest of them were looking on at the three's antics, various expressions of amusement and exasperation on their faces.
Ivy had to admit, they were an astonishingly good looking group of people. And if she was stuck listening to them for the night, well, then she might as well do some people watching. A girl had to get some entertainment from somewhere, after all.
The three women there were undoubtedly beautiful, each in their own way. The more subtly dressed blonde had a warm demeanor, sunny, almost. But Ivy could see her delicately running her heeled foot up and down the brunette woman's calf, and by the way the other woman was trying her hardest not to look in blondie's direction, Ivy had to guess whatever they had going on was surely a secret.
The brightly dressed one, now she was someone Ivy would love to get to know. She just looked like she had a really good energy, and was definitely the life of the party. She seemed to have a thing going on with Baldie (Ivy had now assigned most of them nicknames), because they were using an alarming amount of slightly sickening pet names with each other. Chocolate thunder? Not exactly Ivy's go-to, but hey, they seemed happy.
