Woodsboro High School looked like something straight out of a horror movie, with the swarm of police officers and reporters stationed outside. Kathryn never thought she'd see the day when she'd actually be somewhat excited to step foot on the property.

Weaving her way through the crowd, she parted from her brother, who headed straight toward his stoner friends. Kathryn wasn't one to be too concerned about Nathan's poor habits. She knows that he's a bit of a druggie, but the younger twin was stubborn, and she'd given up on trying to help him quit.

Besides, her attention was far too occupied with the intense scene unfolding around her.

"...The small town of Woodsboro, California, was devastated last night when two young teenagers were found brutally butchered. Authorities have yet to issue a statement, but our sources tell us that no arrest has been made, and the murderer could strike again..."

Her thoughts were interrupted by a light tap on her shoulder. She turned to find Tatum Riley, the first friend she made at Woodsboro-the one that introduced her to the little group she is now a part of-standing behind her.

"Can you believe this shit?"

"What the hell happened?" Kathryn muttered as they headed toward the entrance of the large building, her eyes still scanning her surroundings in curiosity.

Tatum gave her a shocked look, brushing a hand through her shoulder-length blonde hair, which was a shade lighter than Kathryn's own blonde strands. "Oh God, you don't know?" She shook her head in response. "Casey Becker and Steve Orth were killed last night."

The seventeen-year-old's eyes widened at the news as the two walked closely down the hallway, "Seriously? That's terrible." Kathryn exclaimed with a frown. Can't image what their families must be going through...

"And not just killed, Kat. We're talking splatter movie killed-split open end to end."

"Casey Becker? Doesn't she sit next to Sid in English?" Kathryn questions with a frown.

Tatum nods her head, her face pale and somber. "Not anymore. Her parents found her hanging from a tree, her insides on the outside." Gross.

"Do they know who did it?"

"Fucking clueless," Tatum exclaims as the duo came to a halt at the end of the hallway. "They're interrogating the entire school-teachers, students, staff, janitors..."

Kathryn leaned against the wall, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "So they think it's school-related?"

"They don't know," Tatum shrugged. "Dewey said it's the worst crime they've seen, even worse than what happened with... Maureen."

Both of their eyes slid down across the hall, where Billy and Sidney Prescott stood together at the lockers, smiles plastered on their faces as they talked.

Kathryn's heart sank, and not just from a pang of jealousy, but because of the reminder of what happened to Sidney's mother last year-raped and murdered in cold blood. Thankfully, the disgusting bastard was thrown in jail, but it was a devastating tragedy, one that had scarred not only the town, but Sidney herself.
