CHAPTER FIFTEEN, how to survive a horror movie
" let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young "
•-•★•🔪•☆•-•The party had been going on for about four hours when people began trickling out, muttering excuses about curfews or parents.
Kathryn, Nathan, Randy, and a few others decided to stay behind at Stu's, opting to watch the chosen horror movie. Kathryn had nothing better to do, and going home was the last thing she wanted. Besides, Stu had insisted she stay a little longer until she was sober enough to drive-something that, admittedly, made sense.
In the foyer, Sidney stood with a concerned look, glancing up at the stairs as Stu waved the last few guests goodbye. "Tatum, come on!" she called, her voice echoing through the now-emptying house.
"Do you know where she is?"
Stu gave her a casual shrug, pulling the door shut. "Nah, I haven't seen her."
Sidney frowned. "She wouldn't just leave without saying something."
Before Stu could reply, Billy jumped out in the doorway with a "boo". Sidney yelped, startled by his sudden entrance.
"Oh, Billy, hey," she mumbled nervously, eyes darting to her shoes. She clearly hadn't expected him.
Billy and Stu exchanged a silent, knowing glance before Billy turned his attention to Sidney.
"Billy, hmm," Stu grinned, the playful tone unmistakable in his voice. "What are you doin' here?"
Billy's expression remained flat. "I was hoping to talk to Sid. Alone."
Sidney shifted uncomfortably, crossing her arms as if trying to shield herself. "You know, if Tatum sees you here, she'll draw blood," she said, attempting a weak laugh.
Stu's grin widened. "I'll tell you what, why don't you guys head upstairs to my parents' room?" His voice carried an unmistakably suggestive edge. "You know... to talk. Or whatever."
Billy shot him a cold look, and Sidney's face flushed with embarrassment.
"Subtlety, Stu," Billy deadpanned, though Sidney quickly cut in. "You should look it up."
"No, it's fine," she muttered, her voice quiet but firm. "We do need to talk."
Billy's eyes brightened slightly at her words, and he stepped inside, Sidney clutching his arm as they headed upstairs just in time for Kathryn and Randy to spot them.
Kathryn's eyes narrowed, a sharp pang twisting in her chest as she watched them disappear into Stu's room. "Unbelievable," she muttered under her breath, bitterness creeping into her voice. "That little liar really did come here to worm his way back into her pants."
She turned away, briefly glancing at Stu before heading toward the kitchen. "I need another beer."
Logically, Kathryn knew she had no right to be upset. She'd told Billy countless times to patch things up with Sidney, and now, it seemed that was exactly what he was doing. But logic didn't soften the sting. Watching them together still hurt, more than she cared to admit.
Tonight, though, Kathryn promised herself she'd move on from this pointless little crush. Maybe, if she got lucky, someone else could help her forget all about Billy Loomis.
Meanwhile, Randy leaned against the doorframe next to Stu, watching Billy and Sidney disappear upstairs. "What's Leatherface doing here?" he asked, his tone laced with frustration.
