CHAPTER NINETEEN,   the final girl
" trust that you betrayed, confusion that still lingers, you took everything I loved and crushed it in between your fingers "

"We all go a little mad sometimes," Billy said in a low, malicious tone, his head slowly turning to gaze at Randy.

Kathryn felt her heart plummet as she watched Billy aim the gun at Randy's chest.

"Billy, no!" Sidney cried out, but it was too late. The gun fired, the bullet striking Randy's shoulder and sending him crashing back into the table.

Kathryn stood frozen, watching Sidney rush to Randy's now still body. Her eyes flicked to Billy's, his expression wild and crazed. Nothing like the Billy she knew just last week.

He smirked, watching both girls huddle together, fear etched on their faces. With a chuckle, he scratched his head with the barrel of the gun. "Anthony Perkins. Psycho."

"I—how?" Kathryn stammered, trembling as tears streamed down her face.

Billy quirked an eyebrow playfully, as if he hadn't just shot someone. "Oh, this?" He gestured to the blood staining his clothes before licking some of the crimson off his finger. "Corn syrup. Same stuff they used for pig's blood in Carrie."

Kathryn shook her head, disbelief and disgust flooding her as she instinctively turned to flee into the kitchen.

She loved Sidney, of course, but survival instincts were screaming to take over.

But before she could escape, she collided with someone—Stu. Her hands gripped his sweatshirt as he firmly grasped her waist.

"Stu, please! You've got to help us," she begged, glancing back at Billy, who now blocked the living room entryway, a sinister smile twisting his lips.

For the second time that night, Kathryn felt the sting of betrayal. Stu—her best friend, the one she trusted when her world was falling apart—had betrayed her. And when he smirked, holding the small voice modulator in his hand, her heart shattered.

"Surprise, princess," Stu sang, his voice shifting to the same one that had tormented her over the phone that night at the studio.

The voice of the killer.

The horrifying truth hit her like a truck.

It had been them the whole time. Billy and Stu. They were the killers.

Billy grabbed Sidney roughly, dragging her into the kitchen as Stu, with a tight hold on Kathryn, followed behind.

Sidney yanked her arm free from Billy and bolted, but she didn't make it far. Billy easily caught up, cutting her off and forcing her back toward the counter. He held the gun lazily in his hand, pointing it at her, an almost relaxed smile playing on his lips as Stu tossed the device into his hand.

"What's the matter, Sidney? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Kathryn, still trembling, managed to break free from Stu's grip, moving to stand next to Sidney. They were trapped, the boys closing in like predators.

Sidney, voice thick with emotion, asked, "Why are you doing this?"

Stu's grin widened. "It's all part of the game, Sidney."

"It's called 'Guess How I'm Gonna Die!'" he shouted, rushing forward and shoving the gun in Sidney's face.

"Fuck you!" Sidney spat, her voice shaking with anger, as Kathryn tugged at her sleeve in a silent plea to stay calm and not piss the guy with the gun off.
